College: "Men's Rights" Trolls Spammed Us With 400 Fake Rape Reports

Seriously? I mean seriously? I thought the idea was that women make up rape charges, now men are dong it for them? How fucked in the head do you have to be?

An Occidental College spokesman confirmed to Gawker what was suspected earlier today: Online trolls from Reddit and elsewhere disrupted their online anonymous sexual assault reporting system with hundreds of sarcastic, caustic false rape reports.

"Late Monday, the 16th we started seeing a stream of what we would call suspicious reports that were being submitted" to Occidental's Google-based assault reporting form, said Jim Tranquada, director of communications for the Los Angeles college, which has faced scrutiny in recent months for underreporting sex assaults involving its students.

That's about the same time that commenters on Reddit's r/MensRights subreddit began discussing plans to spam the college's reporting system with phony accusations.

That system received about 400 separate assault allegations in 36 hours. "That's far more than we have ever received in the past," Tranquada said. "The sheer number of reports was suspicious."

to make the world safe for rapists. Of course it already is, but I'm convinced they won't rest until it is no longer illegal.

in GD because someone used the word men. I reread the OP thinking he must have said "all you men do this," but of course he didn't. He said "among men," and then went on to disclose some of his own feelings he's struggled with. Yet we can't have a discussion about female sexual autonomy. It has to be all about the hurt feelings of certain members.

(I've decided to overuse this gif because it's so perfect).

What's productive are laws that punish this kind of thing

whether du men defending rape porn, or these men, the underlining issue is the total dismissal of

the rape vcitim.

these men go onto a site for rape victims and totally dismiss their painful experience to promote their agenda.

the people defending the rape porn did it at the expense of every woman on du that experienced rape.

even when brought to their attention that the rape victim reads about men getting off on rape, rape that is made to look as real as rape, with the understanding all the rape victims experiences is an opportunity for these men to get off, and not ONE, not ONE took a minute to consider their argument from a rape victims perspective, listening to men say how grand "simulated" rape is for their entertainment.

a man has to totally dismiss the rape victim.

so when the same men tell us, that rape is a horrible thing and they have empathy, many of us will dismiss that statement cause we just do not believe these men have any desire or ability to understand the womans experience.

and for this subject to drop, the three threads i have seen in GD, lets us know that once agenda, the bottomline in dismissing the victim of rape is very very real, even here on du.

It's about the real ones - they want to intimidate victims from coming forward. They want a more misogynist society that is more accepting of rape.

They can't even deny it at this point. It's obvious now.

They want to be able to fuck anybody they want, any time they want, without taking the other person's wishes into consideration at all.
