Bernie Sanders Falls Behind in a Race Centered on Security

GOFFSTOWN, N.H. — In his opening remarks at the Democratic presidential debate on Saturday, Senator Bernie Sanders railed against “establishment politics and establishment economics” and then the nation’s “rigged economy.” He moved on to the “corrupt” campaign finance system, then the “planetary crisis of climate change.” Only after that did he say he wanted to destroy the Islamic State.

It was a litany of priorities that made good sense when Mr. Sanders announced his presidential bid in April. But after the terrorist attacks in Paris and San Bernardino, Calif., he made fighting terrorism sound like an afterthought.

snip

“Hillary is now in the driver’s seat in a way she has never been before,” said Arnie Arnesen, a New Hampshire liberal and talk radio host who admires Mr. Sanders but is uncommitted in the race. “It’s Bernie’s turn to pivot.”

“I don’t know if he can,” she added, “or whether his base will approve. They love him for the man he is, not the leader he needs to become.”

after the stunt they pulled this weekend.

Every smart person has posted over the weekend that Sanders was BETTER than the other two on national security if, for nothing else, he's not insane (doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results).

I don't make grand statements about my intelligence and support Clinton. I get you impress yourself with your intelligence.

"The point is that smart people think Sanders' approach is better."

Should I go ahead and list the people you are saying aren't smart. lol. I don't think you even believe what you are typing here. Just trying to be as offensive as you can be. Well done.

Quick question if you wouldn't mind. I have interest in patters of the super intelligent and successful. Many super intelligent people, unlike you, have difficulty finding success in life. A percentage of them find great difficulty staying centered. Some of the most intelligent in history have written about just that. You seem to have mastered it. How do you start your mornings? Special breakfast? Yoga? Etc. Do you take any actions during the day to help with the stress? Nighttime rituals?

Thanks and I look forward to your response. I understand you might not want to discuss that information if it is in your upcoming autobiography. But how do you parlay your superior intelligence into such great success in other areas? It's not always a given. Thanks.

Insulting the intelligence of others truly should be out of bounds, period. Why keep letting this stuff stand.

Explanation: Poster's reply is just doubling down. Sick of all the disrespect being shown to other Democrats here. It just lowers the bar and makes people leave. Also turns off lurkers and new members to see so much snark. Everyone's time is valuable, why waste time with this. This is not the face of the Democratic Party that we want people to have. DU has become too hostile for people, and presents a bad view of Democrats. I'm voting to hide all this kind of stuff to help us get people elected.

Could that perhaps be the simple fact that every one of those things is considerably more important to the lives of Americans than destroying ISIS is?
