Link to the great article, "2015: The Year in Bernie Sanders -- Sanders emerged as a national political phenomenon this year"; excerpt (with excellent photos):
The rise of Bernie Sanders has no doubt been one of the more fascinating political stories of 2015 a year that was not short on fascinating political stories. When he announced his run in the spring, few thought the self-described democratic socialist would be such a strong opponent against Hillary Clinton, but his impact in the race has been significant: He's raised significant money, without relying on super PACs, and has pushed Clinton to the left in very real ways.

(17,085 posts)from Warren to Sanders in May have integrity or are true Democrats -- that kind of pure pettiness.

(46,179 posts)Of course, Bernie didn't have a forum under "Democrats" before he declared as a Democrat in the Democratic primaries.
That doesn't mean he wasn't known and discussed "here."

(11,945 posts)so few of us were aware of what a courageous, caring, committed person he is. But when he stepped up, people recognized how unusual he is and how fortunate we are to have someone like him running for the nation's highest office.

(5,859 posts)Talk is cheap, particularly from someone who lied about being under sniper fire (for reasons I have yet to understand). She definitely has some progressive credibility, but only on social issues (now); finance, I'm not so sure.

Progressive credibility on social issues, now? She was so late to the party called LGBT rights (2013), after a history of going to the social conservative party: "marriage is between a man and a woman"/ "Can someone tell me why the depatrment now has a form with parent 1 and parent 2 instead of mother and father - that needs to change back" / and even now there is no comment on how she belatedly "evolved", leaving the suspicion that polls and focus groups changed her mind.
Which candidate wants to adress the issue of detention for LGBT undocumented workers? Not Clinton. That plan is Sanders' plan. What does Clinton plan to do for the LGBT community, except grudgingly include a few (admittedly heartwarming) pictures of their families in her videos?
