Calendars show Clinton made time at State for supportersThe woman who would become a 2016 presidential candidate met or spoke by phone with nearly 100 corporate executives, Clinton charity donors and political supporters during her four years at the State Department between 2009 and 2013, records show. Many of those meetings and calls, formally scheduled by her aides, involved heads of companies and organizations that were pursuing business or private interests with the Obama administration at the time, including with the State Department while Clinton was in charge.
In addition, at least 60 of those who met with Clinton have donated or pledged program commitments to the Bill, Hillary and Chelsea Clinton Foundation. A dozen have been among Hillary Clinton's most reliable political fundraisers, bundling more than $100,000 in donations during her failed 2008 presidential campaign or providing larger amounts to Clinton-allied super political action committees this time. And at least six entities represented in the meetings paid former President Bill Clinton lucrative fees for speeches.

Among those she met with or spoke with by phone were chief executives such as General Electric Co.'s Jeff Immelt, PepsiCo Inc.'s Indra Nooyi, FedEx Corp.'s Fred Smith, former Morgan Stanley chairman John Mack and former Citigroup Inc. chairman Sanford Weill. There were also billionaires: investors George Soros and Warren Buffett and diet pioneer S. Daniel Abraham. Major Democratic Party fundraisers included entertainment magnate Haim Saban, real estate developer Stephen J. Cloobeck and American Federation of Teachers president Randi Weingarten.

(17,011 posts)friends, former coworkers etc. That's a big reason she had so many endorsements. Her whole history and polling shows she has strong and diverse ties. Just throwing up cries of Wall Street! Corporations! is meaningless in the long run. Just applause lines for Sanders.

(55,981 posts)And in only 15 years. Her friends all are members of the 1% and of course her backers are the 1%.
I don't believe you can't recognize the dangers of powerful corporations taking control of our government. Corp profits have been climbing rapidly for the last 40 years while the 99% classes have be sinking into poverty (50,000,000 Americans).
I also don't believe you don't understand the concept of quid pro quo. Corps don't give their money away w/o expecting a big return.
Not one of HRC's social programs is funded by the 1%, or partially funded by the 1%.
We must fix the corrupt government establishment owned by big corporations.

(44,268 posts)A 17 post newbie's thread/OP got locked/hidden a while ago because s/he failed to include this paragraph from the same article:
"The AP found no evidence of legal or ethical conflicts in Clinton's meetings, in its examination of 1,294 pages from the calendars. Her sit-downs with business leaders were not unique among recent secretaries of state, who sometimes called on corporate executives to aid in international affairs, according to archived documents."
Maybe you can still edit that in.

Suffice it to say, she has been courting the 1% and she owes them favors.

(27,787 posts)And yes, its very important that the SecState, who among other things, is involved in foreign policy and trade, talks to what appears to be a rather small number of CEOs.
Its part of the job.
But DU's Combustible Hair Club is easily excited.

(27,787 posts)As for the "many" of you ... you're going to need LOTS more.
Hey, maybe you can find a reference to this same article again, from some other source (Brietbart or Drudge probably have it), and then post it tomorrow.
That should work.

(12,769 posts)I don't read Brietbart or Drudge so wouldn't have any idea what they are saying.

(27,787 posts)... that the US SecState who is heavily involved in US global trade, occasionally talks to people who are actually involved in global trade.

(27,787 posts)... how much good the Clinton foundation does?
I hear there are still "some questions" about what happened in Benghazi.
And there are still "some questions" about how Vince Foster died too.

(30,058 posts)The sugar industry. Hillary is not making an effort to hide her relationship between any of the ones you have mentioned. Yes she has received donations from employees of the corporations you named. For the most part she represented many while she was Senator. Yes the Clinton Foundation has received donations from some of the same people. The Clinton Foundation is helping many people around the world who are less fortunate, what is wrong with helping others.
All in all posting this over and over is not changing my opinion of Hillary and her ability to be president, in fact, it gives me cause to pause and appreciate her work so far and thankful she is making herself available to work more.
