ssa's made the most headway in exposing flaws in the Justice Department's failed "Fast and Furious" effort that saw undercover agents selling weapons to Mexican drug dealers, losing track of them and having one used in the killing of a border patrol agent.
His accusation two years ago that the Obama administration was one of the most corrupt in history stems from his believe that the president's support for bank bailouts, stimulus spending and increase in federal agency budgets was a recipe for disaster.
"I look at it as government gone wild," he said. "You can't throw that much money into the pot and not have huge waste and huge misconduct."
Many of his efforts on the oversight committee have drawn brickbats from President Barack Obama's backers, who say Issa engages in witch hunts intended to embarrass the president.
Those groups have fought back, launching anti-Issa websites and asking for ethics probes into allegations that he used his office for personal gain. To date, none of the allegations against him have panned out and the leading attack website, Issa Watch, is dormant."##snip##
