Related: About this forumThree black Democratic SC lawmakers back Bernie Sanders
Battling for African-American support, Democratic presidential hopeful Bernie Sanders announced his South Carolina leadership team Saturday which includes three Democratic African-American state legislators.
State Reps. Terry Alexander of Florence, Wendell Gilliard of Charleston and Robert Williams of Darlington are among more than 25 committee members backing the U.S. senator from Vermonts bid for the Democratic nomination.
Sen. Sanders has the feel, the attitude of the common person, folks who are struggling day-by-day who are working everyday and still cannot pay their bills, ... do not have health insurance ... and cannot support their families, Alexander said, introducing Sanders who met briefly with media Saturday afternoon.
Sanders is the strongest candidate here for African Americans and he will bring about change, Alexander added.

How can this possibly be? Sanders with only 8% of the black vote in SC? and Hillary at like, a gazillion?

(4,879 posts)I live in a very diverse community (1/3 white and 2/3 POC). We're all working class and suffering. Whenever Hillary Clinton's name is brought up, the most common reaction is, people spit on the ground.
I don't see much of a likeable factor for her here. Maybe she does better in the gated communities we are surrounded by.

(2,841 posts)Whenever we talk about politics and Hillary comes up the sentiment is usually "I'll vote for her if I have to, but I still don't like her." It's the usual "vote for the lesser of two evils" type of thinking that's killing politics and in turn, our country today. :/

(12,504 posts)My .gif say a lot...absolutely perfectly. I thoroughly despise creepy crawlies. Did you see that fly buzzing around a pile of shit version a Bernie supporter placed into a thread recently? That was truly disturbing. Did you complain about that?
and fWIW, what kind of self proclaimed hall monitor do you think you are, telling me where and when I can post. Grow the fuck up and find your own siggly line that says what you want it to say.

(12,504 posts)Again, grow up...lots of people post in several forums. You have a problen with anyone else posting in several forums, or just me? Again, you are trying to tell people where they may post. Just who the fuck do you think you are?
Are you going to call out everyone that isn't exclusively a DU member? Haven't you figured it out yet, or did you not get the memo, that this type of call out is a failing endeavor, and just makes you look petty and grasping for insults.
Tell me exactly what banning has to do with starting and participating in a non DU forum? ALL of the people I know that post in non DU forums (that I also participate in), are not banned...so please proceed.

(5,704 posts)Good times again for Canada and the West. My only apprehension is that a lot of Canadians are conservatives, the NDP lost big time, I was hoping that the NDP would be the official opposition party. Have no idea why went wrong with Mr. Mulcair's campaign.
Oh, we will keep Mr. Trudeau grounded and we know he cannot fulfill all his promises to us, but we know, he will do his best. Good thing is, Harper is gone!

(5,704 posts)and I really hope Mrs. Clinton do not go attack him like she did Mr. Obama. All in all, I just want a Democrat to get elected. If Mrs. Clinton gets elected, I will be as happy as when Mr. Obama got elected.

(5,704 posts)what is the President thinking! I was hoping he could close fucking gitmo before he left office. Forgive me if I sound foolish, I love President Obama, I took a day off for the elections and a day off for his inauguration, I was so excited. I knew he would win after Mrs. Clinton went ballistic on him. I know you are not supposed to feel so much emotions for a person but man, I really wanted him to get his policies done as he promised, but alas, he was blocked every which way and for that am sad. Just for the record, he will go down in my estimation as the best President in the US, way in the list with Gandhi and Nelson Mandela.
Peace my friend, it was lovely chatting with you.

(11,945 posts)It sounds like the Bernie campaign has been hard at work, doing all the right things to win friends and support. I am so glad to hear it.
Now I just hope he's getting enough rest, eating healthy food, taking quality time for himself and those he loves. He doesn't have millions and millions of dollars and an army of paid attendants. He's more like us, a real person. He needs our support as he takes on tptb.

(15,512 posts)Just kidding folks. This looks good for Bernie and that's a fact. Dunno if it's going to make a lick o difference in the SC primary or the polls tho.
p.s. if he'd announced an "SC leadership team" of more than 25 Dems with no African-Americans on it, that would look very odd, but how accurately does 3 of 25+ reflect SC Democrats statistically?
