2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumGet over it. Seriously, get over it.
Look, I'm deeply sorry some of you got your feelings hurt by proxy a few months ago, but just get over it.
I'm really tragically upset that some people sick of seeing their friends and family butchered used some harsh words and demanded to be taken seriously, but get over it.
I'm breaking down in tears that you're still having a sad over your candidate being inconvenienced a few months ago, but maybe you should take like him and get over it.
I'm curled up in bed sobbing that Clinton wasn't confronted the exact same way that Sanders was in Seattle, but get over it.
Sure, statistically, by the time I finish writing this, a black American will have been killed by community or police violence, but we'll get to that after we thoroughly address your months-old sads.

(45,728 posts)NuclearDem makes an excellent point.
Some say BLM is wonderful today, but some of the same people said BLM vile and evil not so long ago.
Lots of people recc'd these threads.
Some of those who recc'd those threads are loudly going on and on about the "hypocrisy" of others without any self-awareness whatsoever.

(47,803 posts)I was less pissed at BLM than the subsequent use of it by political opportunists to smear a guy with a strong and lifelong
commitment to civil rights.
Then I decided whathefuck.I've tried to stay away from the whole thing. It brings out the worst in everyone. But NO side has a lock on purity in this one.

(45,728 posts)Re political opportunists and no side having a lock on purity. But in the grand scheme, what's really important?
When ND stated this it really resonated with me:
I'm really tragically upset that some people sick of seeing their friends and family butchered used some harsh words and demanded to be taken seriously, but get over it.
Here's another post that reasonated as well, a little gentler than ND's

6. I wish we could all just support the causes that #BlackLivesMatter is fighting for and push ALL
of our candidates to do better on issues of racial justice. It trivializes these issues that are literally matters of life and death for our African American friends when we seem more concerned with using them to attack an opposing candidate than with actually addressing them. Supporters of both Bernie and Hillary are guilty of this.
Hope you have a great night!

(12,530 posts)Are you? Or did your post begin with sarcasm that doesn't reflect reality?
Also, did you expect for people to just comply with your directive? You're using an imperative tone, which is kind of funny, but not very convincing.

(23,730 posts)that hardly sounds like concern with a Black American getting killed by violence by the time one's done typing...

(7,804 posts)I can feel the strength of your conviction radiating out at me through the screen. It's that good.
I do hope you don't get charged by a bunch of Volvo driving Berniebros supposing that your interest in race relations is a chimeric ploy to score points against old adversaries on a discussion board. That would suggest that you're kind of shallow and someone saying something like that would be being DIVISIVE.
And divisive people are very, very bad, as we all know.

BLM is pretty smart and know Clinton is trying to use them, fortunately.

(13,757 posts)though I will say one of my greatest sads is to see the same person that STILL has not apologized for race baiting in 2008, or for her defending the legal lynching that is the Death penalty still not come one inch closer to do the right thing, even though she woudl get lauded for it.
