Related: About this forumSanders Says It Was 'Inappropriate' For Staffer To Joke About Clinton As Veep
The walking back has begun.
Looks like Clinton's camp was right to take offense......Bernie Sanders himself thinks those comments were inappropriate.
----------------------------------------
Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) said Thursday that it was "inappropriate" for his campaign manager to joke about considering his Democratic rival Hillary Clinton as his vice presidential running mate, MSNBC reported.
Earlier this week, Sanders' campaign manager had said that they were "willing to consider' Clinton as a running mate.
Look, she'd make a great vice president. We're willing to give her more credit than Obama did," Sanders campaign manager Jeff Weaver had said. "We're willing to consider her for vice president. We'll give her serious consideration. We'll even interview her.
But Sanders walked back the comment to MSNBC.
You know, I think that every campaign has statements come out which are inappropriate. That was inappropriate, Sanders said, adding that he had "a lot of respect" for Clinton.

(6,592 posts)Even though I heard it was a joke and was taken out of context, it was a stupid thing to say. The guy who said it, even assuming what I heard was correct, should have thought about how it would sound if taken out of context.

(42,307 posts)This is a long slog of a campaign and misstatements will be made by everyone. Sanders did the right thing here so let's move on.

(10,345 posts)Because all of Hillary's campaign managers are kneeling on their knees and praying "Oh lord Bernie is such a nice guy and we wish him the best and golly gee willikers!"
No. All campaign managers talk smack about their opponents.
They're all putting pins and needles into little voodoo dolls.
This hurt your feelings? You KNOW Hillary and her crew are saying the same shit.
And I bet Hillary can take this shit like it's nothing, so perhaps all you Hillary supporters should grow some thick skin and understand that a competitive ribbing like this is apart of the game. Hillary is the one actually IN the damn fight. This is nothing but a bit of competitive ribbing.
So calm down Hillary Supporters, I'm betting your candidate has thicker skin than any of you. Sheesh.
And yes, I, a Bernie supporter, just said that Hillary is a tough lady. IT'S TRUE!
All I'm saying is, the conquest for the presidency is a VERY HIGH STAKES COMPETITION. And thus, emotions are high. This kind of stuff, totally normal. Calm down.
And finally, Bernie isn't responsible for what his passionate campaign managers say. Is Hillary responsible for what her allies say? And she has many allies saying shit.

No, I don't want the keys in or close to her hands. Inappropriate is correct. One person's experienced is another's bad track record.
