2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumHillary Adopts New Look to Appeal to Youth
October 7, 2015 By thedandygoat
Clinton showcased her new look at an event in Iowa on Wednesday, speaking at a 4-H club while dressed in an Edwardian corset, a lacy black dress, knee-high studded boots and a variety of occult jewelry.
Look around, my fellow Americans, and youll see that everything is in a state of decay, Clinton said. The only certainty in life is death, and it is death we must espouse if we are to live fully.
<snip>
When asked what advantage she has over her Democratic rivals, Clinton pointed to the two terms she served in the Senate, experience she gained while heading the State Department, and her mint-condition collection of all 13 albums released by the Cure.
Bernie, Joe [Biden], Martin [OMalley], Larry [Lessig], theyre all dead, but they dont even know it yet, she said. Even worse, they are mundane. They bore me.
A spokesperson for the Clinton 2016 campaign insists that while the transformation may appear to be a cheap political stunt, it actually reflects the candidates deepest and until recently, most secret beliefs.

(10,237 posts)has been applied to Hillary .This is either the Democratic party unraveling or H.R.C.'s doing..Are our reactions overdone for net communication grandiosity or genuine ?
My problem with her is that she is easy to make fun of and fast at getting defensive which isn't a good trait for a leader .It could be said that she has the weight of the injustice to all women on her shoulders ,its true but that injustice has not been applyed by all men especially men trying to progress .

(16,916 posts)the simplest answer is generally the correct answer.
In this case, the simplest answer is that Hillary has earned a measure of the hard time that she gets, and the rest is exaggeration. The article I quoted is CLEARLY satirical-not mean spirited, but also proves the point that these memes don't just exist on DU. Other people see her the same way that some DUers do.

So its from offsite but a Bernie fan brought it here for all you people to chuckle over, whats the diff?
I wouldnt alert on this though, lets let everyone see the moral superiority of Bernie backers who think ridiculous crap like this is funny.
I'm sure Bernie himself would be ashamed of having stuff like this done in his name.

(1,545 posts)There's apt to be a lot more satire pointed at Hilary than there is at Bernie, what with her being more famous and more popular and all.
You just have to roll with it.

(16,916 posts)The piece had nothing to do with Hillary being a woman, if it did I would not have posted it, and if you believe what the authors if a SATIRE sight say about themselves, then you'll probably also believe the following:
http://dandygoat.com/meet-bernie-cruz-of-the-green-tea-party
What happens when Tea Party favorite Sen. Ted Cruz and Sen. Bernie Southpaw Sanders get struck by lightning during a total eclipse and fuse into one grotesque presidential contender? Bernie Cruz of the Green Tea Party, thats what. If elected, he promises to:
Distribute free guns to every illegal immigrant
No one, regardless of immigration status, should be deprived of the right to a firearm.
Build a 2000-mile-long wall of usable compost along the U.S.-Mexico border
The most eco-friendly way to secure the border is with a 15-foot-high wall of rotting food and other organic matter that no one in his right mind would try to sneak over. As a bonus, it can be used to fertilize farmland on both sides.
Defend traditional gay marriage
The federal government must not infringe on sacred institutions in states like Massachusetts and California that have traditionally allowed same-sex couples to marry.
Award extra funding to federal agencies that successfully cut their budgets
With a yearly deficit of hundreds of billions of dollars and more than $18 trillion in total debt, the U.S. government needs to cut its spending. Lets encourage federal agencies to cut costs by offering them a powerful incentive: more green stuff.
Empower schoolchildren with vouchers to choose their own birth control
Students today are getting stuck with a narrow range of rubbers and pills paid for by cash-strapped municipal governments. Its time for Washington to empower these kids with vouchers redeemable at local drugstores for whatever colorful condom, fun pill or awesome IUD they want.
Scrap the Department of Education; create the Department of Re-education
The Department of Education is an expensive, useless entity that is largely to blame for the mess of Common Core as well as the trillion dollars of student debt that is crippling college graduates. Its time to scrap this monument to waste and build a bigger, better Department of Re-Education that can provide a real national, uniform curriculum to brainwash the youth.
Reduce carbon emissions by forbidding politicians and activists from traveling to climate change summits
Carbon emissions are disrupting climate patterns and causing polar and glacial ice melt, droughts, hurricanes and other pernicious events. If politicians and top environmental activists who travel the world in private jets to give long-winded talks would instead take buses, ride bicycles or get off their asses and walk, global carbon emissions could be cut by 15 percent. Remember: every time President Obama takes Air Force One to a climate change summit, a fairy in the melting polar region of Greenland dies.
Build a massive pipeline to transport Vermont maple syrup all the way to Texas and beyond
Everybody loves Vermonts maple syrup nutrient-packed, natural and delicious. Yet people in other parts of the country pay a big price for this sweet delight to be shipped to them in gas-guzzling semi trucks, polluting the environment and causing people in places like Texas to turn to unhealthy refined sugar and artificial sweeteners. Lets build a massive pipeline to transport that sweet Vermont goodness all across the U.S.
Allow low-income families to hunt urban wildlife
Who likes invasive species taking over our metropolitan areas? Nobody. Who likes clean cities, empowering the poor, and creating a cycle of self-dependency? Everybody. Theres no reason why low-income families should be prevented from hunting and consuming the natural urban wildlife including pigeons, squirrels and stray cats.
Stand up for the right to be confused. Join the Green Tea Party and help to get Sen. Bernie Cruz elected in 2016.

(15,805 posts)This is not an example of good satire because there is no apparent subjective or visual correlation other than a negative portrayal of gender. If you don't like someone just leave out the dissociated photoshopped insults and try to make your case as best you can with words. There's no payoff in wasting time trolling the internet searching for ways to demean people who think differently than you; after seeing your attempt at humor they'll still not agree with you.
I suspect that if you had tried to make the same goofy assertion verbally, that Clinton somehow resembled a corseted and tattooed goth vixen, the response would not have generated the same satisfying attention, yeah?

C'mon, are you really going to hold up the societal mores depicted in 30s films as comparable to what's acceptable today? Not that the focus is centered on wages, but think about how long women have been fighting just for simple equality, and we're still not there yet because getting this same damned stuff everyday.

(16,916 posts)This isn't about 18th century clothing, people wear this style of clothing in the 21st century. It isn't even about women, as as this photo of a "Goth" male in corset ( and that's NOT satire) can confirm:
In a nutshell, you're drawing gender biased conclusions about presumed comparisons between two societies, separated by three centuries, and connected only by a clothing style.
Wow.

demwing
(16,916 posts)"societal mores depicted in 30s films"
If you're not referring to societal mores as depicted by clothing, are you referring to societal mores as depicted by a wage gap? That hardly makes sense. The wage gap in the '30s was about 55 cents to the dollar, not 75 cents, so you weren't referring to that...
Were you referring to the fake quotes? The makeup? The 4H club? What?
Help me catch up, because your post could use some clarification.

This photoshopped effigy of Clinton reminded me of those nasty pictures of Obama as a witch doctor or in whiteface.
