He died 23 days before the end of his term and was succeeded by Buddy McKay. Which meant that Jeb Bush did not come into the governor's mansion immediately after Chiles.

32. The question was "Who..... today".

I trust Joe Biden and believe he is not quite as "attackable" as the other Dem candidates, though I am conscious that there are areas where others can attack him.

We all know that attacks on HRC will be non-stop and vicious not only throughout her campaign, but throughout her Presidency, if she wins. It will be at least as bad as those against Pres. Obama and very difficult to accomplish the needs of the country.

While I have tremendous respect and admiration for Sen. Sanders and the way he is conducting his campaign and the ideas he has offered, the 'Socialist' tag will be hung around his neck by the Republicans and their superpacs, and the drumbeat of everything that goes with that tag will make it very difficult to overcome.

The other candidates - O'Malley, Chaffee, Webb- have not and will not catch on adequately with the Dem electorate.

And that is my opinion today - 9/29/15 .

I probably will vote for Hillary but I'm not about to vote in something this asinine. I really think a lot of the Sanders supporters here are so caustic and over-the-top that they are turning a lot of people off to their candidate.
Sanders is my absolute favorite Senator, but I am not going to risk losing to the Republicans in 2016, and I know that Clinton will beat anyone they run against her.

37. Well, we've never accused Clinton of being a rapist

We've never argued that she protects and defends pedophiles.
We've not accused her of being in Israel's pocket.
No accusations that she's a segregationist, much less responsible for Virginia slavery.
We've never fallen over ourselves with pure unbridled glee when some damn fool assaults Clinton on stage.
Nor have we accused her of being a "Republican with her head between women's legs."

So, I gotta say. We're not as caustic as we could be.

39. You mean like she's currently not breaking 50% against Trump while Sanders and Biden are?

The myth of Hillary's General-Election electability is a myth...it's honestly and actually demonstrably somewhere between equal to and worse than Sanders.

Biden is likely more electable than either in the general election...but I hope he doesn't run or I hope if he does run he's comes out firing to drive Hillary from the race before NH or IA. Otherwise, this primary fight probably goes to the convention with all three of Sanders, Clinton and Biden in it and none of them having the delegates to lock down the nomination.

Response to Chan790 (Reply #39)

44. Biden is not electable to the massive numbers of people who will view him as part of the status quo

The dissatisfaction of the people with inside DC policies is WHY Sanders is continuing to rise in the polls as more and more people get to know him. Those are mostly Independents, disillusioned Repubs, Libertarians also disillusioned with their former heroes, at least now one quarter of the Dem base, not his real target btw, but mostly that huge demographic of non voters (been signing some of them up myself and so easily to my surprise) who have simply opted out of the system altogether, until now.

None of these demographics will vote for an establishment candidate who they view as part of the problem.

Bernie beats Trump in the latest NH poll by a massive 20 points. Biden and Hillary beat him, but Trump fares better against both of them than he does against Bernie.

Repubs are beginning to pay attention to Bernie now. The RNC recently sent out a tweet saying 'we must stop him' as they would prefer and expected to face Hillary in the GE.

So Biden isn't a choice who will get any more support than Hillary, should the DNC replace her with him. He will get approx. the same which is shrinking with every new poll and for good reason.

50. I don't disagree with any of that.

I just foresee the nightmare scenario of a brokered convention and a negotiated nomination with all three still in and none of them even close on delegate-count if Joe jumps and doesn't take Hillary out in the immediate sense. If Biden gets in, he'd better be prepared to drop the so f**king bad that Bill divorces her and Chelsea disowns her oppo bomb on Hillary as close to day-one of his campaign as he can.

"Honest Joe" as political hitman and establishment axe-man though? I'm just not sure that's a role he's keen to, nor one he's shown past aptitude for. Thus, I hope he decides to stay out. I can easily see Bernie going into the convention with the delegate lead but without it locked-up and the two establishment Democrats brokering a settlement that gives whichever is in 2nd the nomination to keep it from Sanders.

And if everyone votes like Bernie has no chance, then he WILL have no chance. How about joining us and MAKING something happen.

The "socialist" label is very easy to overcome for most people. Bernie will explain it to the Fox News viewers.

35. Sad

So far, the only complaint people have about Hillary are the emails. With Bill entering the conversation, more fodder is available to the Reps...look up "girlfriend" under Bill Clinton and you'll see what to expect when the Reps have more red meat to chew on. Then there's NAFTA and repealing Glass=Steagall...

The Explainer=in-Chief is not held in the high regard he used to be
and as long as he stayed out of the mix it was better for his wife who has had her feelings hurt too much alrleady.

I would vote for Bernie today, but if Biden enters the race, and we have some debates, I might change my vote to Biden. DWS and the DNC are not going to force a candidate down our throats that we think doesn't have a chance against GOP ads..

Polling first apply models to weight the survey results they collect to reflect a larger population. A DU opt-in poll reflects only the opinion of those who care to participate.

race.

People, because that is who posts here, ordinary people, from this forum alone have raised over $21,000 dollars for Bernie. Many people here are not very well off, yet they consider saving this country from Corporate control, important enough to find a few dollars for the only candidate who is representing the 80% of Americans who want Corp money out of our electoral system.
