(24,853 posts)Be funny to ask this question in the Hillary group...
I wonder; do they preemptively ban people there?

(1,810 posts)She is very solid in here lead in almost every single way. To think her numbers weren't going to drop from where they were would be foolish. Your idea of failure is what most people see as a front runner whose second place opponent isn't even running. Interesting how you view failure as you said she is already there. She is one hell of an impressive failure.

(10,721 posts)I have a hard time imagining her not being the nominee at this point.

(12,655 posts)its a when. and she will have "take responsibility" for it, cuz aint no one else gonna
but i am sure she will try and blame the other candidates, the press, us all for being too stoopid to see how awesome she would be.
but she owns it. she is just not electable as pres and has too much baggage and is waaay too far right.

(12,655 posts)if she is too crappy a candidate to support and sucks on the issues?
i don't think so, but i will credit you for creativity....
SonderWoman
(1,169 posts)If she is the candidate you will have to decide whether you want to vote for a Democrat whom you agree with on many issues or a Republican whom you probably disagree with on everything.
restorefreedom
(12,655 posts)and i live in a state that is not going to change color this election. so my real vote is in the primary.
i could vote for winnie the pooh in the general and it would not make a damn difference.
but you are correct. for those in swing states, a decision has to be made

(6,896 posts)and she has been doing it for years by mistaken calculation.

(35,488 posts)and our chances next year right here on DU. Do you really want Republicans in total control of government? I kind of depend on getting SS and Medicare, it will be gone if the Republicans get control. Sure Bernie is doing well in the polls, that's what they want to run against a 74 year old socialist. Nobody has laid a hand on him, the media, Republicans and some Democrats are all campaigning against Hillary.
reddread
(6,896 posts)is do we want Republicans in the Democratic Party?
Leaders and shakers that prefer Republican candidates over Democratic challengers?
I personally detest organizations that would have someone like me, but I really cant abide
conservatives in any form, and they should be of minimal influence within an opposition party.

(10,721 posts)While there is a very valid and extensive critique from the left, that won't be the primary reason Clinton fails to win the general election. If she fails, that is. I still give her (or any Dem nominee) decent odds of becoming POTUS given how favorable the electoral college map is--really, the election comes down to just a handful of states, as most are already decided.
The fact that Clinton has so many ties to disturbing corporations and is apparently going to start promoting anti-feminism via this Thx Box thing could hurt her in the sense that she might have a tough time motivating progressives, particularly young folks, to vote for her on election day.
But the principle reason for her potential failure is that The Right absolutely despises her and her husband. She's incredibly polarizing with a very poor favorable:unfavorable ratio. And I don't mean entities like the military industrial complex, big banks, and so on. They actually like Clinton--with good reason. I'm talking about Joe Six Pack, evangelicals, misogynists, Republican elected officials, etc.
Again, I still think she has the best odds of anyone of becoming POTUS. But, given how favorable the electoral college map is, that isn't really saying much. A less polarizing (yet well-known) Democratic Party nominee, ideally not someone with as many neoliberal credentials, would likely be a very heavy favorite. Like Obama was. Warren would be great (similar to Sanders but more of a policy wonk and more charismatic), but I'm not sure the party establishment would allow her to become the nominee.

(6,896 posts)you crank up the "expense" of a presidential run and election process to preclude the lesser capital-ized, involve all the media outlets who play roles in the chain of profit and payoff,
and keep squeezing more bucks out of your investors to do so, mass mailers, spam emails, whatever...
and then when it becomes clear their investments are shaky,
something besides air hits the fan.
Im gonna call that failure, and it happened
sometime in the last few weeks.
