Mitt Romney says there is nothing wrong with personal wealth. I agree. However...

Why is he hiding his personal wealth? If there is nothing wrong with it, what exactly is he afraid of showing with his tax returns? For someone who claims there is nothing wrong with personal wealth, and being rich, he sure does a lot of hiding.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with people accumulating personal wealth so long as they do it honestly, not stealing from the hard work of others by making the system unfair.

Name one person who has attained massive wealth without somehow using that wealth to rig the game.

But I would agree that you have to trade off morals.

I did Sales in 2000 - 2007, built up a solid Service Delivery practice. Was able to make a great base and 2 to 3x commission. What occurred was that I started over selling the companies ability to deliver. Early on I ran the sales and delivery side then we brought in a guy to take over delivery. He tended to cut corners, try to weasel out of what we both agreed to in the sales cycle. With a couple of major clients I had to jump back in and run the delivery potion with his guys.

Anyway what I realized in 2006 that there was no way I could continue to make promises that my counterpart and the company couldn't deliver so I decided to go out on my own. Many of my competitors were very comfortable with making promises that couldn't be met, I just didn't have it in my make up not to deliver what was designed and agreed upon during the sales cycle.

Anyway, I make less money, but now I just have to meet my own promises and I like it much better.

On edit: and paying $3,600 additional taxes was never an issue for me or the company. If I could ever bring in an extra $2,000,000 in business and get 100k commission, we were all elated, the tax rate was never even a thought. And a $2,000,000 job puts 7 - 10 additional people to work.

R-Money has his family use public services, they drive on our roads, use our air traffic controllers. They are NOT paying their fair share, nor are the Koch Brothers, or any of them. R-Money is ripping off the tax payers. Counties and cities are laying off police and firefighters, and teachers, and school nurses, because guys like him are NOT paying their fair share.

I have no issue with personal wealth.. I have been wealthy a few times in my life. It's really really nice! BUT.. I didn't cheat people by hiding money like he does. At what fucking point do these jackals have enough money? And is it too much to ask that they give a shit about everyone else in this Country??? Our Country is barely functioning because of our Rich-centric tax laws... and he wants to make it worse, but giving more away to shits like the ones at his little Hamptons parties.

There's some line where they cross into just being greedy. Wanting enough money to have power over others, which gets more important than the money.

"It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the Kingdom of God."

"sell everything you have and give to the poor."

"do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth"

"You cannot serve both God and Money"

"woe to you who are rich."

Of course according to Acts 2:44 and 2:45 some of Jesus's followers even formed an ancient hardcore socialist community :-P

Interesting that his so called biggest fans completely ignore some of the most straight forward passages attributed to Jesus and his earliest followers.

Wealth isn't necessarily obtained by crooked means. Bill Cosby is entertaining, People pay to see him. People pay to read/see Rowling's stories.

Wealth is also relative. My sister and her husband live a very modest life. I'm probably worth ten times what they are, not that that is saying much. My best friend is worth ten times what I'm worth. But we're all paupers compared Romney. Romney is a pauper (we think--maybe no longer) compared to Bill Richardson. Bill Richardson is a pauper compared to Sheldon Adelson, the Kochs or Warren Buffett.

It all depends on what you do with the resources at your command. Sheldon Adelson and the Kochs give hundreds of millions to right wing causes in the hope of buying politicians who will do their bidding, especially on loose tax laws and loose environmental laws. Warren Buffet has pledged most of his billions to charity.

They're going over the tax returns and making sure they're clean.

That there's not a mistake that reduced Romney's taxes. Or something that could be restated to be less ... either incriminating or useful to mud-slingers.

I'd also think they're making sure that his and his wife's money and assets are separated and every return they release will cover just Romney, and just what must be construed as Romney's. Then he won't be hit for his wife's money--something that McCain was bad at avoiding but Kerry was good at avoiding. (McCain got nailed for his wife's houses; Kerry, not so much.)

There's also the blind trust business. * was nailed for not knowing he had logging-mill stock, IIRC, buried in a blind trust. Most don't know what a blind trust is, so it's easy to play to their ignorance.
