The problem with identity politics

What do you believe will happen in the GE if the Republicans nominate a female non-politician Fiorina as president and Marco Rubio or Ben Carson as VP. With identity politics identifying with a candidate is more important then ideology.

That is why there has been no action by congress on global warming, remember the snowball. DU is not the real world, what happens in the political world and stands on issues are important to us.

3. They'll get crushed ... Fiorina destroyed HP ... she is the poster child ...

... for what she actually called "right-shoring" ... sending American jobs over seas.

The idea that a failed CEO who destroyed an American success story, took millions for herself, and destroyed the lives of thousands of middle class Americans in the process could win ... is ridiculous.

10. They could nominate all 3 at once and still lose women and minorities to the Democrats

This kind of thinking assumes that people who engage in what you call "identity politics" are stupid. They are not, as you can tell from all those times when people voted for Democrats even when they were running against a Republican from their social group.

Here's what will happen: Republicans will vote for Republicans, Democrats will vote for Democrats, and the election will be decided among the 10% who are swing voters and by base turnout in swing states.
