Dear Republicans
Today some of our brightest minds in the political arena spoke. These great minds, Limbaugh, Palin, Beck, O'Reilly and Hannity among others had one common message. Obama is a Fascist, Communist and Socialist. Yes, they say he is all three. There is just one problem those are different political systems and don't coexist. Also, they are not telling just what Obama did to earn these labels.
These are the definitions of Fascism, Communism and Socialism. If they are going to call Obama one of these please at least take time to learn what they actually mean and understand you cannot be more than one they are very different. Also, please explain just how anything Obama has done could be considered any of them.
Communism - a theory or system of social organization based on the holding of all property in common, actual ownership being ascribed to the community as a whole or to the state.
Socialism - a theory or system of social organization that advocates the vesting of the ownership and control of the means of production and distribution, of capital, land, etc., in the community as a whole.
Please, insult President Obama if you like, we know you hate his guts, but at least call him the correct label and more over know what they mean because your really lose your credibility when you speak not knowing what you talking about.

(53,661 posts)Atwater on the Southern Strategy
As a member of the Reagan administration in 1981, Atwater gave an anonymous interview to political scientist Alexander P. Lamis. Part of this interview was printed in Lamis' book The Two-Party South, then reprinted in Southern Politics in the 1990s with Atwater's name revealed. Bob Herbert reported on the interview in the 6 October 2005 edition of the New York Times. Atwater talked about the GOP's Southern Strategy and Ronald Reagan's version of it:
Atwater: As to the whole Southern strategy that Harry S. Dent, Sr. and others put together in 1968, opposition to the Voting Rights Act would have been a central part of keeping the South. Now [the new Southern Strategy of Ronald Reagan] doesn't have to do that. All you have to do to keep the South is for Reagan to run in place on the issues he's campaigned on since 1964 and that's fiscal conservatism, balancing the budget, cut taxes, you know, the whole cluster.
Questioner: But the fact is, isn't it, that Reagan does get to the Wallace voter and to the racist side of the Wallace voter by doing away with legal services, by cutting down on food stamps?
Atwater: You start out in 1954 by saying, "*,*,*." By 1968 you can't say "*," that hurts you. Backfires. So you say stuff like forced busing, states' rights and all that stuff. You're getting so abstract now [that] you're talking about cutting taxes, and all these things you're talking about are totally economic things and a byproduct of them is [that] blacks get hurt worse than whites. And subconsciously maybe that is part of it. I'm not saying that. But I'm saying that if it is getting that abstract, and that coded, that we are doing away with the racial problem one way or the other. You follow me because obviously sitting around saying, "We want to cut this," is much more abstract than even the busing thing, and a hell of a lot more abstract than "*, *."[6][7]

So much for the fabled intellect on the right. Check out all those fancy terms they created to hide themselves. We're not fooled, though. No one should be.
If that is too offensive to anyone, tell me and I'll delete it. But I'm tired of people acting like we don't know what's up.
SoutherDem
(2,307 posts)it seems that occasionally they stop themselves just in time and toss out the first term they can think of.

(53,661 posts)That may be unfair, but I'm just tired of it. They don't want to learn from you, they want to sell you the lie they bought. Half their energy is the fear they were fooled, and the other half is denying the possibility. There is a part of this that is a real grievance. But they are nowhere near the point that they can explain it in terms of what they really, really feel. Which is not different than many of the people they are calling names. So they hide and if you probe and show that they are weak, even to help, they will hate you worse than anything else.

(194 posts)they consider President Obama nothing more then a "N____er" and when Baggers and Cons think they are safe they do refer to President Obama as a 'N____er". I know I have seen it happen many times over the last few years. It is what they publicly, in the media and in person, what to say. It is also why they hate political correctness.
We would be better off peacefully dividing up the nation before things get out of control, Just give the Pub Baggers the south seeing that the majority live there and we cut them off, let them turn the place into the 3rd world gun toting theocratic nation they so long to have.

(719 posts)that the last time we tried to divide the country up it didn't work out so well.
Balkanizing the United States would only give some of its various component nations a quasi-justification for trying to impress their particular brand of madness on their neighbors. Visualize if you will a heavily red, conservative/reactionary/fundie Southern country-- let's call it the Lone Star Republic-- making war on some other country here in CONUS (perhaps an equally hypothetical California Confederacy) in order to put a stop to all the Godless crack-and-anal-sex orgies and bring them into the brotherhood of Christian nations. All in the name of God, of course.
You can bet that in any Balkanized version of a future U.S. there will be someplace for the hardcore fundies.

(194 posts)this separation would be agreed upon. They would be a separate independent nation. Passport and visa would be required for travel. We build a 10 mile DMZ to keep them out.
We won't have much problem with them and if they do get out of line, well we will still have a military force and the UN to deal with them. They will be a christian version of Iran but will look more like Somalia.

(2,307 posts)First, I live in the south. But it isn't just the south. If you look at the electoral map you see that the strong Romney states are in the south except Florida and reaches from Texas to the Canadian Border.
While we are dividing the country lets set up a state or two for the Libertarians and any other group who may want part of the "great divide".
I do understand you point, but without Civil War 2 I hope it never comes to this, plus it seem in other areas where dividing the country has been the answer it hasn't worked very well.
But, we really have nothing to worry about, the Tea Party is moving to Canada to escape from socialized medicine. (I will slap anyone who tells them any different )
KatChatter
(194 posts)I am sorry for you choose to live in the south. You should really consider living in a more progressive part of America.
Iceberg Louie
(190 posts)It would be pretty much geographically impossible to isolate the "red" parts of the nation. It's no longer as simple as north and south; a huge swath of the Midwest falls in line with the Faux News flock. This would effectively divide the more progressive coasts. Furthermore, what it really boils down to is the more "blue" densely populated metropolitan areas vs. the "red" rural areas.
I agree though, we need to stand mute while the indignant Teabaggers make good on their threat to move to Canada in protest of socialized medicine
