We don't have to choose between saving black lives OR supporting Bernie.

Tonight's beautiful rally in Portland proves that people of good will can believe that black lives matter AND support the most progressive and transformative candidate in this year's campaign.

Black Lives Matter

Social Justice Matters

Economic Justice Matters

Social and Economic Justice Go Together.

Let's come together and make the world we need.

Sandra Bland was in no way economic disadvantaged and yet was treated the way she was treated by the police.

made by many whites is that most Black people are poor ghetto dwellers and if it appears that said Black person is not poor it's because they are doing something illegal to attain money, it is this perception born of bigotry on many levels including economic is why until very recently this type of abuse by LEO's went quite unnoticed

Just that the those causes do not conflict with each other.

You can accept that, can't you?

But all the people who keep trying to place that little social wedge in to the *exclusion* of economic policy (which is frankly ridiculous if you think about the roles unemployment, housing, childhood chances, and social capital play in racism), you should remember that "social policy" can keep sailing to the right -- far past Hillary and into the GOP camp. In fact, if only "the social" is important, African Americans might as well kick the Democratic Party to the curb and go vote for Ben Carson in order to keep an African American role model in office.

Really, I'm sick of this fake social/economic dichotomy. Hillary supporters think Hillary is going to capture the benefit, but she won't.

So again, no conflict between the causes of Social Justice and Economic Justice.

Money is power, especially in the (in)justice system. If you have none, you are screwed. If you are a minority too? Oh boy...and a female? Ya, not good.

sandra did not have access to the 500 bucks she needed for bail money...that contributed to her death...so she was at an economic disadvantage

the stop, the charge were bs but still if she had had access to bail this outcome would of been different

if she had had access to bail and an expensive lawyer on retainer, they would of been apologizing to her

MLK and Malcolm knew it was all part of a larger battle. The powers that be are most afraid when the idea of Socialism comes up. Socialism is for the people, not for the few and privileged.

When capitialism falls and we can provide well for everyone, the competition wedge between racial groups for jobs will disappear, and maybe we can all get along better and try to be a larger HUMAN community.
