Jay Nixon for vice president?

I was wondering last night if Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon, who is term limited from running for reelection in 2016 as governor would be a good VP pick for the Democrats despite his crappy Ferguson shooting response. He seems like a decent governor in Missouri and won by a good margin in 2008 and 2012. Would you like him to be on the ticket or would his last name prevent it?

had to deal with a Republican controlled Legislature. He had to veto a lot of RW stuff in Missouri. Does Nixon have other baggage than the response to the Michael Brown shooting? He was Missouri Attorney General from 1993 to 2009. Is there any Missouri DUers that can talk more about Nixon?

in his capacities as AG and governor. The most in any given year was last year. He doesn't see it as a necessary evil, I have it on good authority that he actually likes it.
He also lacks gravitas. Of the people I know who have worked with him personally most have told me he's not a very likable guy. He all but inherited the governorship because he had been AG for so long.

I don't see Hillary picking him because of the Ferguson baggage, but he can be a dark horse.

Before Ferguson, Nixon would have been an obvious choice: Missouri, moderate, white, governor.

But after Ferguson, Nixon is toxic. Fairly or unfairly, his name just conjures up debates that Clinton won't want to bring up.

If she wants a Nixon-like figure, it would be much easier to pick someone like Bayh or Vilsack. Nixon just spells trouble.

From what I see, aside from what happened in Ferguson, he would be a spectacular choice. I don't know the full details of that and I'll look into it. Mizzurrah voted for the Clintons twice, almost voted for Obama in 2008, and if Hillary wins it, its game over for the GOP Ohio or not. I also like it because Arkansas could be moved back into play: that regional factor helped Bill in 92 and 96 in MO. I wonder about Louisiana. It was close in 1992 but a Clinton 51-38 blowout in 1996, and its also close to MO. I do bet in LA and MO that Obama lost so badly because he was black.

MO is not going to vote for a Democrat. The MO general assembly has massive veto proof republican majorities. Our next governor will be a republican who turned Democrat to run for AG after having served for a number of years in the general assembly. He is the heir apparent based on the AG for gov. formula.

with Ferguson. Nixon may never be vice president or president, but he should be respected as Governor of Missouri.

Let's just be be nice and say Ferguson is a eligibility-killer. The reality is that he is a fundamentally-poor choice for national office as a Democrat for pretty much the precise reasons he was electable in MO: He's not much of a Democrat and he's wrong on most major Democratic issues.
