'...being part of the Clinton family has provided Mr. Mezvinsky with another perk: access to wealthy investors with ties to the Clintons.
When Mr. Mezvinsky and his partners began raising money in 2011 for a new hedge fund firm, Eaglevale Partners, a number of investors in the firm were longtime supporters of the Clintons, according to interviews and financial documents reviewed by The New York Times. Tens of millions of dollars raised by Eaglevale can be attributed to investors with some relationship or link to the Clintons...
Mr. Lasry, a co-founder of the big hedge fund Avenue Capital and a longtime friend and financial backer of both the former president and Mrs. Clinton, said he invested $1 million in Eaglevale. In an interview in his Park Avenue office, adorned with many photos of him with the former president, he said that he recommended that his relative by marriage, Craig Effron, another hedge fund manager, also invest in the fund.
I gave them money because I thought they would make me money, said Mr. Lasry, whose $13 billion firm was one of the first places Chelsea worked after graduating from Stanford.'

Yet Hillary won't support a $15 minimum wage hike. Shades of Mitt Romney...

(6,409 posts)The Clinton campaign says it's mere coincidence that they're talking about issues such as income equality. As Clinton's associations with wealthy investors come to light, she may feel she and her friends have enough money, and it's time to pay attention to the working class.

(23,664 posts)It's not possible for her and her friends to have enough money.

(6,409 posts)There are a few, very few, wealthy people who propose raising taxes on high income earners. Walt Disney's niece wrote a nice op-ed a few years ago, explaining how rich people did not "build that" by themselves to borrow phrase from the president. IN fact, maybe I'll go look for it and post it. Anyway, some of Clinton's wealthy friends may of this sort, although I expect most are, as you say, just interested in getting more money.

(6,409 posts)Of course, she will never admit that pressure comes from Sanders, even though it's pretty obvious. Instead, she will cite the party's history of affiliation with unions, working class Americans, etc.
En Garde
(94 posts)Especially since she allegedly is so concerned about income inequality?

(6,409 posts)We tend to equate a luxurious lifestyle with disregard for the concerns of working people. That's probably a fair assumption but it is an assumption, so there may be exceptions. I think FDR was a good example of an exception. He was from a wealthy family, but loved by the working people. Hillary Clinton could be such a person.

(6,409 posts)I don't know if she is a typical rich person or not. I'm not too concerned right now, because I support Sanders, and I'm very confident he's not the typical guy who pals around with wealthy donors. As far as Clinton, I guess I'll fall off that bridge when I come to it. If I come to it.

(9,497 posts)Wow...no one should have said anything about Barbara Bush and her remarks about the Katrina displaced in the the stadium.
Is that what you are saying?
I didn't really like the word you used, "attacked" but I do say that everyone who is an adult is not above reproach.
Theoretically, if a candidate's spouse said they were against vaccines. No one in good conscience should voice an opinion counter to that?
They are not royalty.
Chelsea made a career choice. She married her spouse by her own accord. Unless there was an arrangement I am not aware of. /snark
Both choices are at odds with people who think part of the economic collapse in this century was partially caused by this profession. People are going to have opinions.
This tactic of taking what one person says and smearing across all the people in that group reminds me of how my Latino family is viewed by many in this country. I would really like it if you thought about this for even 2 seconds.

(13,069 posts)Sanders supporters have been rabid in their attacks on Clinton. And apparently, there is no line they will not cross, even if it means going after Hillary's family.
Have a good night. I am going to go polish my pearls. You may want to clean your shoes.
