2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumO'Malley 10-Page Financial Plan: Protecting The American Dream From Another Wall St. Crash
from the 10-page white paper:
Governor OMalley knows that the American Dream today remains out of reach for too many families. To attack this problem, it will take a multi-pronged and fearlessly progressive approach to addressing economic inequality. But the results of any steps we take as a nation to raise wages, ensure retirement security, and make the dream of homeownership a reality can be wiped out in an instant by another Wall Street crash.
We need to protect Americas economy. And we can only do it by implementing strong accountability and structural reforms that build upon the Dodd-Frank Act and put an end to too-big-to-fail, too-big-to-manage, and too-big-to-jail financial firms.
BRINGING REAL ENFORCEMENT TO WALL STREETFINALLY

Finally someone. @MartinOMalley calls for higher capital requirements on largest banks, surcharge for over $500bn. http://martinomalley.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/OMalley-Wall-Street-Reform.pdf

Note correct language of "fund themselves with
equity instead of risky debt", not "hold capital" cc @anatadmati http://martinomalley.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/OMalley-Wall-Street-Reform.pdf

(45,484 posts)7. O'Malley will require that appointees to key positions have strong backgrounds in fighting for the
public interest and a proven ability to prosecute people who break the law.

http://martinomalley.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/OMalley-Wall-Street-Reform.pdf
Including the promise to immediately introduce legislation to reinstate the Glass-Steagall Act. O'Malley is the real deal. His campaign is consistently releasing specific proposals to strengthen the middle class.
