Nancy Mace expected to challenge Sen. Lindsey Graham
Nancy Mace, one of The Citadels first two female graduates, is expected to announce Saturday that she will challenge U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham in next Junes GOP primary.
Mace has indicated she may run and said Thursday she will make her decision known Saturday morning at the Berkeley County GOP breakfast meeting in Goose Creek.
In a separate news release, the county party said Saturdays meeting will include a special guest with a huge announcement for the entire state.
Mace would be the second official Republican challenger to Graham, who has more than $6.3 million in his campaign warchest but whose willingness to compromise with Democrats has angered some in the GOP base.

(18,421 posts)That's like me saying "Uh-oh don't get shot" to you based on your screen name. But, I wouldn't say that, because it's a bigoted stereotype. Lindsey Graham is a married straight man. Until he says otherwise, which will likely never happen, you should give him the human dignity of referring to him as such. Understand?
Maximumnegro
(1,134 posts)which has been rumored for AGES to the point of boredom be depriving him of dignity, please explain that. There is nothing derogatory in using the term catfight; in no way does it denigrate him as a human being, lessen him as a human being, pass judgement on his sexual preference and I used the term specifically because of LINDSEY'S RECORD AND PERSONALITY. Lindsey, like his buddy McCain, loves to get into hissy fits.
And yeah saying uh oh don't get shot from my name is frankly pretty f-ing accurate these days, but that's neither here nor there. How could I possibly be offended by that when yeah I could actually get shot just for being a (maximum) negro.
And Lindsey isn't married. So you might want to work on your facts before responding.

(18,421 posts)If he says he's straight, he's straight. If he wakes up tomorrow morning and realizes he has been depriving himself of what he really wants, so be it. But unless that happens, he is straight as he said. I wouldn't like to be teased for being gay (frankly I'd pop a guy one if he did), so I don't think it is acceptable to tease someone for being effeminate and straight. Besides the fact that there is no evidence whatsoever that he isn't, it's disrespectful to anyone to tell them how they feel inside.
Maximumnegro
(1,134 posts)to do with the word catfight. Using catfight is not telling Lindsey Graham how he should feel inside. nor is it depriving him of his voice, nor his 'person', nor is it teasing him for (possibly) being gay. There is zero context for that and so far no one has made that connection clear. In fact just saying I use catfight because he is possibly 'effeminate' misses the mark of Lindsey's public/professional persona. It is effectively saying regardless of the person, if I perceive them to be 'effeminate' that I would have used the word catfight. This is not the case. I chose the word singularly for Lindsey Graham.
The only negative connotation to the word 'catfight' is what others are bringing to it. If they feel offended then I do apologize.

(18,421 posts)Masculine guys don't catfight. It is poking fun at his masculinity.

(13,878 posts)Are you serious? Lindsey has never been married and has never been known to date a woman. The first time he ran he had a brochure titled "Family Values." It showed Lindsey, his wife and their two kids on the cover. It wasn't a complete lie, because it was his 'family': It was his sister and her two kids with her husband conveniently not in the picture. Both he and our other Senator, the black teaparty guy Tim Scott appointed by Nikki Haley, are known to be gay. In fact, the head of a gay Tea Party group in SC talked about running against Lindsey because he is too willing to compromise with Democrats and because of his hypocrisy in opposing equal rights for gays while remaining in the closet.

(13,878 posts)Graham has already raised millions, and now he has 3 Tea Party opponents to split the opposition vote. One of them is the ironically named state Sen Lee Bright. He owns a trucking company in the Upstate (the reddest part of SC, Columbia and Charleston are Democratic) and I heard him a while back at a forum addressing the dismal state of our our roads and bridges. He wouldn't consider an increase in the gas tax, which is one of the five lowest in the nation and hasn't been raised in 20 years and which at least 1/3 of is paid by people from out of state. Instead, his idea to fix the roads and help the profitability of his trucks was to shift funds from non-essential sources like, I kid you not, public education. When someone asked if they had heard him right about shifting money from education, he said that should not occur until we have a full voucher program in effect. Half the people voting for Lindsey will be Democrats who are scared of the Tea Party.

(13,878 posts)Don't forget Nikki Haley was running 4th out of 4 until she cranked up the Tea Party and Sarah Palin came in and campgainged for her. We would be trading what now passes for a moderate republican for another hard line Tea Partier.
