Baucus-D in the general election matchups
trails Racicot-R and Daines-R by a 5 point margin. (both are unlikely to run).
narrowly leads Fox-R by a 3 point margin. (unlikely to run)
leads Stapleton-R and Edmunds-R by a 7 to 10 point margin.

Schweitzer-D defeats Stapleton and Edmunds-R by a 10 to 15 point margin.
Schweitzer-D defeats Fox-R by a 6 point margin.
narrowly leads Daines-R 3 point margin.
narrowly trails Racicot-R. 1 point margin.

The rational for DSCC to endorse Schweitzer-D over Baucus-D is Schweitzer-D is the only Democrat that could defeat Racicot-R or Daines-R.
