Conservatives' "glowing remarks" about MLKJr are a pure example of the idea

that "liberal ideas" + 20 or so years become the result of "conservative" efforts.

"Conservatives" of the time were loyal to King George III and the Crown, and would have hung the upstart revolutionaries.
