Election eve stunner: FBI gains warrant to pursue Donald Trump over his ties to Russia
By Bill Palmer
Just eight hours before the first polls are set to open on Election Day in the United States, one of the two Presidential candidates is suddenly facing an FBI warrant for alleged criminal activities and no, its not Hillary Clinton. One day after she was fully cleared by the Director of FBI of any wrongdoing (for the second time), it turns out the bureau is now moving on Donald Trump over his apparently illegal connections to the Russian government and other Russian entities.
It turns out the FISA warrant in question was granted back in October, but as has been his pattern, FBI Director James Comey made a point of keeping that information secret even as he tried and failed to air Hillary Clintons ultimately non-existent dirty laundry. The FBI in particular is using the warrant to pursue Donald Trumps private server, which computer scientists have determined is for secret direct communication with the largest bank in Russia.

(53,339 posts)There can be 100 reports, but if they all cite Heat street, there's still only one source.

(15,262 posts)That has been confirmed, and we know that the DNC hack was run from a server in Russia, that is also in evidence. Putin knows if these two computers were connected in Russia. We don't have access to their log files.

(15,262 posts)Long time since Ive blogged here. Or done anything here. But I thought this maybe merited some attention. The site itself is conservative, mostly full of crap, but the author is a reliable #NeverTrump type. Day late and dollar short. Make of it what you will.
This link is cited:
Two separate sources with links to the counter-intelligence community have confirmed to Heat Street that the FBI sought, and was granted, a FISA court warrant in October, giving counter-intelligence permission to examine the activities of U.S. persons in Donald Trumps campaign with ties to Russia.
Contrary to earlier reporting in the New York Times, which cited FBI sources as saying that the agency did not believe that the private server in Donald Trumps Trump Tower which was connected to a Russian bank had any nefarious purpose, the FBIs counter-intelligence arm, sources say, re-drew an earlier FISA court request around possible financial and banking offenses related to the server. The first request, which, sources say, named Trump, was denied back in June, but the second was drawn more narrowly and was granted in October after evidence was presented of a server, possibly related to the Trump campaign, and its alleged links to two banks; SVB Bank and Russias Alfa Bank. While the Times story speaks of metadata, sources suggest that a FISA warrant was granted to look at the full content of emails and other related documents that may concern US persons.
The FBI agents who talked to the New York Times, and rubbished the ground-breaking stories of Slate ( Franklin Foer) and Mother Jones (David Corn) may not have known about the FISA warrant, sources say, because the counter-intelligence and criminal sides of the FBI often work independently of each other employing the principle of compartmentalization.
