All they have left is the uber-rich and the old white vote, and now they are going to be forced to sell out the rich on the tax issue. I'm not sure the GOP really has any value left, because when these old white people die, they're history! Boner and McConnel have done a stand up job...and now they can stand up and leave because there is little left to fuck up. We win. Game, set, match.

.. & should'nt be so cocky, dems said the same thing 40 yrs ago after carter was elected, old white repubs would die off, then a tv star won the popularity contest. Dems said the same thing 20 yrs ago after clinton was elected, old white repubs would die off, then gwbush won, er, was selected, after actually losing.

.. a pleasant savvy republican could arise phoenix like &, like a box of chocolates you don't know what you're gonna get during the campaign season - didn't we all sweat bullets after obama did poorly on debate #1? Were we all so cocky then or didn't we wake up mornings with this pit in the stomach like I did? thinking how did this happen?
... pleasant republican could eke out a victory & set back all the progress dems made the previous term(s) (ala gwbush squadering the surplus & nearly bankrupting the country).

.. When either major party is near guaranteed 45% of the vote from the start, & the deciding voters are those independents withOUT much political convictions who vote helter skelter, there's a lot of leeway amongst independents during the campaign, as it's become for the candidates more a challenge to 'avoid the blunder' & remain in good favor.
.. this time obama's blunder cost him, in a couple weeks, all the good favor he'd built up the previous 9 months, & it was likely the sandystorm which blew a favorable wind back to obama. But can we count on superstorms to save us in the future? no. Old white repubs may die off, but there's no predicting another ron reagan superstar carrying 49 states, when elections have come down to being popularity contests.
Democrat party has about 38% of total electorate vote, but pluralities don't necessarily win the electoral college.
