...came up with the idea of a "no new taxes" pledge, officially the "Taxpayer Protection Pledge."

As a slightly, though not much more, mature adult, he founded the Americans for Tax Reform, which is dedicated to "drowning government in a bathtub."

Since most Republicans are about as mature as 12 year-olds, most of them signed his pledge, and in an effort to keep from looking like the hypocrites that they are, for the most part they have stuck to the pledge.

Now, in a time when it has become screamingly obvious that we need to increase tax revenue, a small handful of the Republicans who signed the pledge are coming to realize that maybe we do need to raise some taxes, particularly on the super-rich. Or at least they are paying lip service to that notion since they can see the handwriting on the wall, and probably want to get re-elected. So they're turning on Grover. Or at least, they are scapegoating him to their constituents, in an effort to make themselves look reasonable.

Something like that...

Something's gotta give with all this obstruction.

We can't keep excusing it in the name of freedom if it goes against the greater good.
