the disgusting possibility of the GOP stealing this election through the fake email scandal.
I met some nice people who assured me they were voting.
I met a young man who promised to take his 85 year old grandmother to vote.
I tried to persuade an undecided voter, whose roommate I was there to remind to vote, that she should vote for HRC too. My line was "a vote for third party is half a vote for Trump." Sometimes less is more and I think that phrasing it that way is a little more persuasive.
Of course, I wasn't really meeting with many undecideds so it is hard to know what they are thinking right now, since Comey decided to violate Justice Department guidelines and smear our fine former first lady.
I am terrified of losing this election. But it seems so unjust, unfair and immoral that it is almost destined to happen, if that makes any sense.
I am even paranoid about the Cleveland Indians beating the Chicago Cubs in the World Series. Cleveland is where the GOP Convention was and Chicago is Hillary's hometown. I am worried about what that victory might portend. I know it is ridiculous. 12 years ago I dismissed my Yankees fan cousin-in-law's intention to root for Boston in the ALCS as irrelevant to John Kerry's prospects for victory. But in this election I am cannot seem to help myself.
It was good to get out and do something constructive after 24 hours of freaking out over this manipulation, the first actual ethics violation of the email server story.
UPDATE: I went out canvassing again today. It went very well. I put up a post below describing my day. The post begins with the word "UPDATE."

My baseball team is the SF Giants (I'm in Calif)-- so, sorry-- not an Indians fan.
Hang in there, OK??

I am not an Indians fan either. I was saying that I am paranoid that if they win then it will bode well for Trump. I know it is crazy but like I said, this election is freaking me out.
But I am hanging in there. And the important thing about freaking out is that you not let it discourage you. It is OK to freak out as long as you turn it into something positive. And that is what I tried to do today.

(22,896 posts)I know this election cycle has been nerve-wracking (to say the least), but I know for me, watching TV makes me more stressed-- unless I'm listening to Lawrence O'Donnell. He is passionate but remains calm.

(10,500 posts)Or were you calling solid Democrats to remind them to vote?
I hope you are right but I cannot help but be concerned. The Republicans have a long and successful record of deceiving the American people.

Yep, I've gone there.
Who knew that the bible would come in handy this election.

Ninni Laaksonen, a former Miss Finland in the Miss Universe competition that Trump once owned, alleged in an interview with the Finnish newspaper Ilta-Sanomat that Trump groped her before an appearance on The Late Show with David Letterman in 2006.
Before the show we were photographed outside the building, Laaksonen said, according to a translation provided by The Telegraph. Trump stood right next to me and suddenly he squeezed my butt. He really grabbed my butt.
I dont think anybody saw it but I flinched and thought: What is happening?
Laaksonen said that she had been told at other events that year that Trump found her attractive because she reminded him of his wife, Melania, whom he had married the year before.
Somebody told me there that Trump liked me because I looked like Melania when she was younger, Laaksonen said. It left me disgusted.

(10,500 posts)A lot of voters are terrified of Trump and determined to go to the polls to stop him from becoming president.
But these are solid Dems and heavily minority. I don't think swing voters understand the threat he poses or the fictitious nature of James Comey's contrived October Surprise.
I spoke to a Jill Stein voter. Nothing I said could change her mind. And I said some pretty intelligent things IMO. But she is determined to vote for Stein, no matter what the consequences. I am glad that she took time to hear me out, however. Maybe she will change her mind at the last minute.
