2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumPence going to Utah today is a total waste of time.
In the long run, it shouldn't matter to Trump whether he loses Utah to McMullin. If a McMullin victory there prevents either Trump or Clinton from getting an EV majority, then the election goes to the House of Representatives anyway, and Trump wins. If a McMullin victory still leaves either Clinton or Trump with 270+, then the state will have ended up playing no role anyway.
Strategy is no their long suit.

(44,973 posts)McMullin and Trump are splitting the republican vote. Too bad McMullin isn't doing the same in other states.

(17,863 posts)prominent national political figure as a surrogate. You know someone who won Utah by almost 50 points. You know someone like that loser Mitt Romney.
Romney is probably laughing his butt off today.
Point taken on EV. I would think Pence would be living in OH and PA. He is a rust belt governor, and what use is he if he can't help Trump win those two states.
By the way Trump is campaigning in that critically important EV District Washington today as he opens his new hotel.
I thought it was hilarious when earlier Trump asked a group of Protestant Evangelicals to help him in Utah. While they can be allies on some issues, both groups are convinced the other is going straight to hell.
