(4,286 posts)I like to look at the details on the polls. There is lots of good news in this poll but it's only one poll and the sample size isn't large for a national poll. If the followup daily tracking numbers support it that will bolster the trend.
The good new is that HRC is at her highest point ever and it is 50%. Trump hits an all time low at below 40%. Polling in the 30s at this late date should scare the crap out of his people. Also Johnson is fading. I am not at all surprised. Third party candidates usually fade closer to election day. They don't have the money to play the game on the big stage and it's one thing to say your going to vote for a 3rd party candidate in August and another to really throw your vote away in November.
I think it's thankfully too late for Trump to turn this around. Yesterday was his big reset the campaign day and what did he do? He led off his big speech with a petty threat to sue his female accusers. What the hell did he think was going to be the headline coming out of that speech? It surely wasn't going to be his stupid plan to bring manufacturing jobs back.
I think Mitch McConnell should spend time packing up his office in the coming months.

(1,429 posts)Liberal bias?
Does the news media have a liberal bias? Here are some claims and facts.
Claim: Barack Obama wasnt born in the United States. Fact: He was, but the Republican candidate who ran against him in 2008 was not. John McCain was born in Panama.
Claim: As secretary of state, Hillary Clinton was responsible for the deaths of four Americans in Benghazi. Fact: Four Americans were killed in 2012 during an attack on the embassy. In 1983, during the Reagan administration, a car bomb destroyed the U.S. Embassy in Beirut, killing 63 people, including 17 Americans. The embassy was moved to a supposedly more secure location. However, in 1984, another car bomb exploded, killing 22, including two Americans.
Claim: Clinton illegally used a private email server as secretary of state. Fact: There was no law against this practice. In 2007, it was discovered that some 50 officials in the George W. Bush administration were using a private email server run by the Republican National Committee. When Congress asked to review these emails, 22 million emails were deleted.
If the news media had a liberal bias, we would see more of these facts and fewer of these claims.

(19,066 posts)And all this rigged talk is depressing their enthusiasm. This is the perfect storm, Hillary's ground game is going to sweep the swing states.
I just think Trump won't even perform as well as he's polling either. He's run a poor campaign strategy wise. Why you would tell your voters that their votes won't count because the election is rigged is beyond me, that was insanely stupid.
And very few people will split their tickets, you're going to see Senate races that showed Reps up 3 or more points in the polls go to the Dem. the coattails could be massive and unprecedented.
The rigged election narrative is a nightmare for the GOP and you can tell that Donald's campaign has no relationship with the GOP at a strategic level or they would have never let him go this route. It's crushing for them. Donald is effectively telling Republican voters to stay home. Keep up the good work Dipshit.

(144 posts)has opened the possibility to talk about gerrymandered districts. That's why Republicans typically don't want to open that can of worms.

They've stolen all the Hillary signs in town, and it is a predominantly dem area, but there are a basketful of real nuts living here.
Now the goal is Landslide!

(4,353 posts)It is very troubling that Donny might get 40% of the vote. I see a direct correlation between this and the destruction of public education. The reich wing wants an ignorant electorate without any cognitive thinking skills. Dark will be the day if they ever succeed in anointing a totalitarian dictator in the greatest bastion of hope in the world.
saltpoint
(50,986 posts)of the thousands of reasons Democrats and not Republicans should control the White House and Congress.
Who chooses Supreme Court vacancies, in particular, is an imperative.
It's also important that the Republicans be made to see that the attitudes and policies they vigorously pursued and welcomed and embodied from Nixon forward are neurotoxic to their survival as a national party. They need to feel the sting of voters' rejection. It's important that voters slap the GOP in the face. Hard.
The Republicans have not lifted a finger to make any changes in their far-right agenda because it worked for them for so long. Now Donald J. Trump heads their national ticket and the polling, just 16 days out, is tanking big time.
The Republicans ordered a fascist asshole. Delivery has been made. The box is sitting on their front porch.

Trump should not carry a single state. However, the last time the EC was unanimous in favor of one candidate was back when George Washington was elected.
