I can't totally get my head around this

nor can I think of a very good example but let us suppose for conversational purposes that we liberals/progressives had our own Donald Trump.....a bombastic, unscrupulous left leaning publicity whore idiot and he was our presidential candidate running against a Mitt Romney or Jeb Bush type Republican. What would we do?

Real democrats wouldn't be described using any of those words, at least not all at the same time.
