Related: About this forumVIDEO: Lawrence O'Donnell Explains The "Ugly" Details Of The Trump's Illegal Donation To Bondi
A lot of Bondi-Trump threads are ignoring the illegalities and just making innuendos. FACT: There were several crimes in addition to the lies.
.... The campaign contribution was illegal because it came from the Trump Foundation, a charity which is not allowed to make political contributions. The Trump Foundation's tax return did not list the illegal contribution.
When the IRS discovered it, the IRS fined the Trump Foundation $2,500. The Trump campaign said today, it was just a series of clerical errors that led to the illegal contribution by the foundation, and the coincidental failure to include that contribution in the foundation's tax returns. ......
..... The Florida Attorney General now caught in the ugliest possible timing of a campaign contribution is just outraged that anyone could have the slightest suspicion that she and Donald Trump might have been up to something. ......
I never spoke to her, first of all." Trump
Fact: Bondi spoke with Trump and solicited the donation herself.
His campaign has to undo his lies.
The Donald Trump campaign Tuesday walked back remarks the GOP nominee made Monday denying any communications with Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi before his 2013 donation in support of her campaign.

Nov. 8 is a day of reckoning for all those who have abused their power, Pam Bondi
While it hasnt been proved that Mr. Trump or Ms. Bondi violated bribery law, theres little doubt that they abused the public trust in 2013, when Ms. Bondi received a $25,000 campaign contribution from Mr. Trump four days after her office announced that Florida was reviewing the allegations in a lawsuit filed in New York against his Trump University.
......... Confronted on Monday, Mr. Trump said oddly that he hadnt spoken to Ms. Bondi. The Associated Press reported in June that an adviser to Ms. Bondi confirmed that Ms. Bondi had spoken to Mr. Trump and asked for the contribution.
.......... Mr. Trump has made a point of saying that hes in the habit of buying politicians. He said in July 2015, When you give, they do whatever the hell you want them to do. And during a Republican debate the next month, he said: I was a businessman. I give to everybody. When they call, I give. And you know what? When I need something from them, two years later, three years later, I call them, and they are there for me. In Iowa in January, he said: When I call, they kiss my ass. O.K.? ...

Another Trump Pay-to-Play Story of Donation Squashing Prosecution?
Did Donald Trump pay off then Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott for ordering the head of a consumer protection agency to drop a damaging investigation that was ready for prosecution against Donald Trump and his real estate scam, Trump University? And is current Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton now trying to hide the facts?
Paxton, best-known for his war against LGBT people especially transgender people in the Lone Star state, and for being indicted on three felony fraud counts, has issued a cease and desist letter to a former state regulator who recently released documents showing he was forced to drop a case against Trump University.
Former Deputy Chief of Consumer Protection John Owens says for political reasons in 2010 he was ordered to drop his investigation of Trump University. CBS News reports that Owens "told The Associated Press on Friday that decision was highly unusual and left the bilked students on their own to attempt to recover their tuition money from the celebrity businessman."
In 2010, when he was conducting the investigation into Trump University, Owens' boss was the Texas Attorney General, now Governor Greg Abbott. Trump in 2013 reportedly made donations totaling $35,000 to Abbott's election campaign. ............

(15,262 posts)Donald Trumps gift to Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi deserves a closer look
.... Dont expect Donald Trump to apologize, however. As per custom, his campaign refused to respond to questions by a Times/Herald reporter. ..........
... Trump paid a penalty to the IRS involving a $25,000 gift by the Trump Foundation. The recipient was a political committee called And Justice for All controlled by Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi.
... The rest remains murky, and, so far, riddled with contractions and misdirection. Originally, for example, the Trump Foundation said it gave the money to another group in Kansas with a similar name to Ms. Bondis political group. Then it blamed a clerical error and said it should have come from Mr. Trumps account, not from his foundation.
More serious are the questions about why the money was given and how it came about. ....... Unlike the faux scandal over the Clinton institution, there were actual victims here people who paid good money to Trump University and feel they were duped. Why is Pam Bondi not investigating that?

The AP reported that Abbott, a Republican, was serving as Texas Attorney General at the time, and opened a civil investigation of "possibly deceptive trade practices" into Trump University, but quietly dropped it when the organization agreed to end its operations in Texas.
Trump subsequently donated $35,000 to Abbott's successful gubernatorial campaign, according to records obtained by the AP.

We've just begun to scratch the surface with this guy. He has decades of corruption to work with. When he goes down, he may bring a few of these folks with him.
Edit to change source of story.
