2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumHere's the speaker lineup for the GOP Convention. What happened to the entertainment?
Nothing even remotely interesting, though after seeing David Clarke on Don Lemon's show tonight I'm not sure he won't have a seizure onstage. And PhilRobertson? And Chachi?

(1,729 posts)I'm just going crazy trying to decode the meaning behind all these appearances at the trashy extravaganza that is this year's Republican National Convention.
We've got headliner Melania Trump. I wonder if her topic will be that new hardcore anti-porn plank the party just adopted.
And we've got Tiffany Trump speaking at the Republican National Convention.. For those that don't know, she's the daughter of Trump's former mistress (and later wife) Marla Maples. I'm guessing she'll be speaking about the GOP's strong commitment to Traditional Marriage.
Oh, and we can't forget Newt and Callista. I think he might actually have Trump beat in the trade-in-your-old-wife-for-a-new-one department.
And Willie Robertson from Duck Dynasty? Didn't Laura Ingraham say that celebrities should just shut up and sing?
Oh, and we've got Laura Ingraham speaking. I wonder if she'll be busy trying to duck tape duck dynasty's mouth shut.
And we surely know golfer Natalie Gulbis will add so much to the proceedings. Maybe Laura will tell her to PUTT up and sing?
And then there's the true elder statesman of the bunch ... Scott Baio. What do we say about him? No, really, can anyone think of anything? Didn't this has-been become irrelevant in the 80's? I'm still not over the shock that he's there.
At least Trump us trying to bring out something truly political. We've got the Benghazi bunch coming out to tell us that it was actually Hillary herself storming the gates of the embassy that night. That should bring these affairs a new level of taste and decorum.
Wake me when it's over.

(42,041 posts)It's low-level-political-climber-meets-celebrity-has been-central. If Hillary's campaign has any sense at all they'll bring in top tier democrats and some sincere endorsements from top celebrities under the age of, oh, fifty, to be in charge of the enthusiasm factor.
