I remember reading about a GOP Texas legislator who wanted to cut funding for foreign language study because "If English was good enough for Jesus Christ, it's good enough for the school children of Texas".

The Bible has nothing to do with American history. I'm fairly confident that the Bible was written well before 1776 and I'm not sure what lessons in American history our students would learn. This is a stupid idea, although I have relatives who would probably think it is the best idea ever.

No way, no how, no. In fact, deism was the dominant belief of our founding fathers--more than Christianity--thanks to the Enlightenment.
