Related: About this forumFBI Director James Comey to Give Press Conference on Unspecified Subject 11:00 This Morning
Tommy Christopher ?@tommyxtopher 34m34 minutes agoGod, please let someone accidentally publish their "Hillary Clinton Indicted" pre-write! Pretty please?
Mediaite:
Just three days after completing a highly-publicized 3.5 hour interview with the former Secretary of State, the FBI is prepared to give a press conference this morning. FBI Director James Comey is scheduled to give the remarks at 11 a.m., which are on an unspecific topic.
Last week, Attorney General Loretta Lynch announced that she was prepared to receive the recommendation from the FBI about the investigation into Clintons use of a private email server and the handling of classified information.
Political Twitter immediately wagered their best bets about the press conference and what we might expect to hear when Comey takes to the microphone. Many are pointing to the fact that Clinton is scheduled to make her first campaign stop later today alongside President Barack Obama as a likely indicator about how Comeys remarks may be colored:
FBIs Comey speaks to the press at 11 am. Obama/Clinton do their first joint campaign rally at 2:25 pm.

Anyone think that Obama would be there if Comey was going to say anything upsetting? https://t.co/EMoyvLOE3y

Headed soon to @FBI where Director James Comey plans to make a public statement at 11am EST. No topic provided in advance.

Just remember that Comey is a Republican who nearly resigned over warrantless wiretaps. Theres no fix.

The word is FBI Director James Comey will hold surprise presser at 11 a.m. ET. Focus is unknown, but FBI interviewed Clinton this weekend.

(19,510 posts)He is framing this in the worst light possible. And he's going to make public information that normally would stay within the investigation and be between them and the prosecutor.

(183,405 posts)That, to me, would indicate that they don't have anything.

(8,541 posts)But everything that I did say was confirmed by Comey's statement. Feel free to prove me wrong.

(58,785 posts)Bad week. First the GOP thankfully washes its hands of the Benghazi "scandal," and how the Director of the FBI says "No reasonable prosecutor would bring such a case."
No willful or intentional misconduct, no indications of disloyalty to the United States, no efforts to obstruct justice.

(8,541 posts)I except the FBIs recommendation and I'm not secretly steaming. I'm actually happy it's over before the convention.
But to circle back to your point. If you think I was wrong on anything I've said on this subject feel free to prove it.

(86,177 posts)...sloppy handling, but nothing criminal.
Only bad in the eyes of those who've invested so much in this. All that's left is the same sniping over 'carelessness' which most people have already shrugged off as political posturing.
No indictment fairy. I suspect that'll disappoint a lot of folks, many of them still hanging on to the imaginary Sanders campaign in anticipation of an indictment. Too bad, too sad for them.

(22,935 posts)and the thing I read (reading this online.. so I have not heard his comments in real time) is that her server was not hacked..so that puts that one to rest also

(86,177 posts)...the speculation du jour throughout the primary from her campaign rivals was that she would be indicted and forced to end her campaign. That has to be a major part of why Sanders is still refusing to endorse her; hoping she'll get charged with something and he'll just roll his votes over into a superdelegate-fueled nomination.
Thart's not just idle rhetoric, it's drawn from endless posts here promoting the investigation at every turn and using it as a political cudgel against Hillary. I think those folks look utterly ridiculous and disgustingly craven; even more so today.

(8,541 posts)It's obvious that some put their hopes on an indictment. And I'm sure they are crying but this statement was far from roses.

(86,177 posts)...and has zero to do with the concerns most Americans are investing into this election.
But, don't try and pretend not to understand the import in this election of the crushing of the indictment fairy. I don't believe you're that obtuse.

(8,541 posts)For just the reason you mentioned. I only have a peaked interest because I have some background on these matters. I'm not a hater nor a dead ender.
And please don't get it twisted. Your last point isn't lost on me and I haven't denied it.
bigtree
(86,177 posts)...he meant to fuel frustration over the issue and cast himself as above all of it.
Most of the folks who took time to post about this issue did so because they thought it would advantage their candidate; Sanders folks looking to damage Hillary politically, and Hillary folks looking to defend her.
Very few people posting on this intensely political forum were just interested in the technical details out of deep concern for the State Dept's adherence to regulations. This was used as a political cudgel here and today's FBI presser was a huge repudiation of those efforts.

(8,541 posts)And yes, everything is used as a wedge. This isn't anything new at all. Just look at the fact that Bernie's lobster sliders were brought up.
