2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumThe new teleprompter-reading Donald is a stiff. Speech going on now. *yawn*
He's making a lukewarm truth-free speech to a lukewarm reception in Monessen PA. It's a real lesson in how hind-brain his rallies are, because when he does attempt to act "presidential" I have the distinct sense that until he blurts out occasional tag line people in the audience are looking at one another and saying "That's good, right?" before they give him a smattering of applause.
He IS being specific though. So we'll see when it gets parsed out how doable any of the things he's claiming he'll do are.
Might be a good idea for him to get his products out of China now.

(34,661 posts)Two proposed Steel Mills have been scrapped because of over capacity in India and China. And the affordable Iron Ore deposits are not in the US. But,it sells in states like Kentucky,West Virginia and Indiana, where Older White Folks still believe in Santa and the Easter Bunny.

(42,023 posts)I hear the city has retooled pretty nicely but steel is not making a comeback. I do think strict regulations need to be in place. What got used from China after Katrina was a disaster.

(37,428 posts)...and unless he suddenly develops a capacity for learning, he's only going to neuter his personality, the only distinctive thing he has to offer. If the rank-and-file wanted to vote for Jeb Bush, they had about ten opportinities already, and didn't take them.
