Related: About this forumDoes anyone know more about the Russians hacking the DNC?
I saw this post on my home page and I was hoping to get some input from people here.

(44,188 posts)Given Trump's many complimentary statements about Putin, I hope some intrepid reporters do some serious investigation. Would make Watergate look like a parking infraction in comparison.

Russia still lies.

(1,178 posts)I wouldn't assume that Putin likes Trump as much as Trump likes Putin. Putin will be able to play Trump more easily that Clinton, which may be his motivation. However, Trump is a loose cannon and Hillary will be predictable, and Putin may prefer certainty. Plus, who would trust Trump to keep his mouth shut about this info? My instinct is that Russia just wants a heads-up so they can be ready, not that Trump has a deal with them.

(44,188 posts)Does stealing DNC Opposition research really give them a heads up so they can be ready for a Trump presidency?
IMHO a Google search would give them plenty of info.
Sorry I am in CT mode today, which is rare for me.
Other possibility I guess is that they stole oppo research to 'blackmail' Trump should he win. But that really doesn't make any sense to me.
All I can say for certain is something is off here.

(1,178 posts)Trump certainly already knows where his bodies are buried, to speak (hopefully) metaphorically. I don't think Putin would like the blowback if Trump got angry at some of the info and said something publicly. Now, stealing intel on Hillary and giving it to Trump would help Trump more. I don't see Putin doing something that gives him no strategic advantage

(23,720 posts)But you can bet your butt they were all up in the DNC servers and have copies of e-mails between the Clinton campaign and DSW and if there is anything they can use at a later date to blackmail Clinton, you can be sure they will.

(1,214 posts)They might be just looking for dirt and political info on all possible US Presidents.
Or...
Maybe they have their hacks in place in enough electronic voting systems to ensure a drumpf victory
Seriously, it wouldn't surprise me if the rnc was hacked as well, but they've either not discovered it, or don't want to admit it.

(230 posts)There's a lot of personal stuff on there - donors list, commitment lists, personal info. And it's just the beginning. Looks to be via Guccifer, who has now pleaded guilty on 2 counts from not guilty on 9, and a sentence from about 114 years to about 7. Included in the bargaining was his agreement to testify in future cases.

(1,178 posts)that was posted on The Smoking Gun and alleged to be the intel stolen from the DNC. All it appears to be is a paper written by research interns that compiles the various actions/statements/conduct of Trump over the years. Nothing we don't already know - no smoking guns. I don't see anything of value - no secrets, no strategy that wasn't already obvious, just further confirmation that the man is a monumental ass.

(1,178 posts)I was focused on Trump-specific material because there has been a lot of speculation about whether this was orchestrated by Russia to benefit Trump. I'm sure there is all kinds of stuff on the DNC server, but the amount that wealthy Dems donate, though perhaps not something they wanted publicized, is not gonna make a difference in the general.

(6,007 posts)hidden by the censorship jury. They don't want that information posted here.
Let's see what happens on Monday when Assange says he will post Hillary emails that should have enough information for an indictment.
If that happens, then maybe they'll finally have to acknowledge it. Otherwise, don't ask, don't tell or they'll hide it.
