2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumHillary is most certainly progressive. Trump is rotten to the very core. Case closed.
Hillary backs marriage equality, a woman's right to choose, other LGTB rights, removing Citizens United, opposes the TPP, wants to reverse the voter suppression laws, is willing to take on the NRA, is for middle class economics instead of trickle down economics, and on and on. Now, I know she isn't absolutely pure and hasn't been. But these posts equating her with Republicans, the very ones who have tried to tear her down for twenty five years, are extreme and way outside the mainstream.
Hillary is progressive by any fair measure, and she is certainly not a Republican. That is simply ludicrous.
Progressive means progress, not purity.
It will be Hillary or Trump, period. There is no comparison in any way shape or form. It is the ultimate no brainer.
The stakes couldn't be higher. Rationality needs to win out over extremist notions of progressive purity. Reality needs to carry the day here.
Bernie ran a great race and did much better than expected. Anyone can admire that.
But Hillary Clinton, a very well qualified progressive, is the only person who stands between the racist fanatic who is Trump and America's beloved White House.
Simple as that.

(50,393 posts)from Republican for most of her career. Only recently - with the success Bernie has had - have we seen things remotely close to progressivism. It is what it is. She's better than Trump, but she'll be signing GOP bills left and right once elected. Just like Bill did.
