Related: About this forumBernie Sanders supporters decry Elizabeth Warren's endorsement of Hillary
Bernie Sanders supporters have not taken well to Massachusetts senator Elizabeth Warrens endorsement of Democratic presumptive nominee Hillary Clinton, with many arguing that it would seriously undermine Warrens reputation as a champion of progressives and the working people of America.
<...>
The disgruntled supporters are not only making their voices heard on Facebook. Even on YouTube, a chunk of Bernie Sanders supporters vented their ire on Warrens decision to endorse Hillary Clinton. While many called on her to reconsider her decision, others termed her a sellout, a pseudo progressive neoliberal, and one commenter even suggested that she was similar to a parasite who displayed gross opportunism in deciding to support Clinton.
According to The Hill, it is not only Bernie Sanders supporters who are critical of Elizabeth Warren, but even Sanders surrogate and former Ohio state senator Nina Turner lashed out at her, saying that the Massachusetts Democrat has not done enough for the progressive cause.

(12,471 posts)To quote Nina, Its easy for Democrats to attack Mr. Trump, Turner said. You dont get any brownie points from me and other progressives for getting into a Twitter war with Mr. Donald Trump. Thats easy.
But when the fight was hard for Sen. Bernie Sanders, where was Sen. Warren?
Yeah, I wanna know too!

(25,525 posts)Yeah, that makes a lot of sense.
Granted, it's only a small (?) subset of Sanders supporters who are throwing her under the bus, but I'd be willing to bet that the vast majority of them would have voted for her in a heartbeat had Sanders not run, and with never an assertion that she's a sellout.

(12,471 posts)She is also a former Republican as is the Queen, and her steadfast support for Israel has made me wonder since she first came on the seen. Personally, I like some of the things that she has done, but I still have had a "wait and see" attitude about her.

(14,040 posts)If you mean Hillary, she was a Republican for all of 5 minutes. For the rest of her adult life she has been a Democrat. Maybe not the Democrat you want but a Democrat all the same.
TwilightZone
(25,525 posts)Neither fact is even remotely relevant in today's world.
As for the "Queen" nonsense, don't be surprised if people don't take you seriously if that's your go-to shtick.

(2,868 posts)I happened to be living in Boston back then. I really was hoping that Bernie would win the nomination. I knew it was a long shot, and I think he did really well since so many people didn't even know who he was at the start. I hope that Senator Sanders and Senator Warren come together with Secretary Clinton and become part of what I hope is her new administration. I certainly don't want to see a President 'Donald Dumpsterfire' in the white house. Good grief. I thought George W Bush was an embarrassment.

(28,350 posts)I'm really hoping to find a reasonable, adult-themed explanation as to why it makes any sense at all to keep hacking away at fresh wounds and dividing us, and how that is of any benefit whatsoever to our DU community, our party or our candidate.
I simply don't know what the positive benefit is here, and to whom?

so its a no win for either he or Warren and EW is ready for a fight.

(6,716 posts)I find it hilarious that people are throwing Warren under the bus. For years she has been hailed as the savior and within a day she is a sellout? I think this could be worse than the PUMA movement of 2008.

(4,229 posts)I don't think she would ruin her brand by endorsing Clinton and then Clinton doing something really dumb.
I mean I guess the Clintons have so many allies she could have been afraid that if she didn't they would cut her out of power, but guessing she would say something about it.
So I'm guessing Warren maybe secured some promises that will pay off for the more populist dems.
If you look at how Clinton pivoted in her rhetoric and proposals after she realized they were so popular for Sanders, Clinton is in pretty much the right place if she makes good or even tries to make good on any or most.
So as a Bernie supporter my main hope is it's not just saying it. I hope she really does it. I'm tired as a Dem of us pushing the cultural issues so hard, even though that's ok, and not pushing the economic issues.
I think if Hillary does not deliver we will see a democrat or republican offer more economic populisim and challenge her. If she does deliver we may see the Dems stay in power a LONG time.

(30,254 posts)Who do they think that she was going to endorse?????? To top it all, she's the only one of the women Democratic senators who withheld her endorsement until the nomination was decided.
I think that she was respectful to both candidates by deciding to stay neutral until the nomination process neared its end.

Youtube comments are pretty much example #1 of this theory. And the damned thing is, if you're using internet fuckwads to try to classify and define an entire group of real people, you're actually joining the fuckwad herd.
I kinda wish Warren had endorsed bernie earlier in the campaign. But I know shy she's endorsing Hillary now. No biggy to me.

(761 posts)Warren wasn't going to risk any political skin in the primary. She struggled with her party's leaders in the Senate and was able to move from the periphery to a position of increased influence. Now Harry is retiring and will be replaced by Chuck Schumer, who is as tight with Wall Street as can be. Why risk getting on Schumer's bad side after working so hard to increase her influence. Hillary didn't need her endorsement, Bernie did, but I think Warren didn't think he could win, so why take the risk.
