Retrograde
(10,203 posts)Everything is Hillary's fault. After all, why believe something just because a member of the DNC (all know Hillary shills and in the pockets of Big, um, Lines?) says so? Surely the sterling intentions of the Sanders supporters are more important than actual ground organization, right? And Puerto Rico shouldn't count anyway cause it's kinda Southernish.

(45,120 posts)Some Puerto Rico Democratic officials are claiming that the Sanders campaign requested fewer polling places in todays primary contest. Thats completely false. The opposite is true. In emails with the party, Sanders staff asked the party to maintain the 1,500 plus presidential primary locations promised by the Puerto Rico Democratic party in testimony before the DNC in April, when the party was asking to have its caucus changed to a primary. They cannot blame their shoddy running of the primary on our campaign. This is just one example of irregularities going on in Puerto Rico voting today. We are the campaign that has been fighting to increase voter participation.

Local TV also just said he made an unscheduled stop at the Santa Monica Pier so his grandchildren could ride the carousel, but he got in over an hour to meet and greet. He crashed "a charity "Pedal on the Pier" fundraiser, telling people riding on stationary bikes that the U.S. should have "an economy that works for all people, not just the one percent." No money to book a real venue?

(53 posts)Who knew voter suppression was so easy! There is nothing about this that makes sense. Even if you think Sanders would ask for this, how anyone can believe that they would honor such a request to close polls in an election from one of the candidates in that very election is beyond me. At the very least there are more questions than answers here.
It is pretty convenient that regardless of what the whole truth is, this will likely be a big headline tomorrow, the day before a huge primary that Clinton is desperate to win. I'm just speculating, but there are much simpler explanations.

Per @tonydokoupil, Puerto Rico's Democratic Party is blaming Sanders's campaign for long lines & confusion today:
nadinbrzezinski
(154,021 posts)Bernie Sanderss campaign is accusing Puerto Ricos Democratic Party officials of fraud in the territorys presidential primary.
The campaigns head of Hispanic voter efforts, Betsy Franceschini, told Caribbean Business in an interview that Sanders officials were initially denied access to prisons to help inmates vote.
Our Bernie Sanders officials were never certified. We had 40 officials we submitted in time for the prisons. Not one of them was certified, while all of theirs [Hillary Clintons] went in. Attorney Manny Suárez had to go in order for us to be let in. This is a great fraud, Franceschini said.

If you want to know why we don't trust Clinton and will not vote for her just look at this thread.
I will not vote for a campaign built on lies.

(45,319 posts)I posted something below about what when on last week. The Party was defending the cuts they made in polling places against criticisms from Sanders people. That's a matter of record and it's not the same tune as we are hearing today from the Party in Puerto Rico, is it?

(45,319 posts)The Democratic Party in Puerto Rico made this decision on May 5th. They defended that from criticism from many sources including the Sanders campaign. Today they claim Bernie is the reason for what they did last month out of their own agency and for which they got bad press.
It's a repeated thing. When I work, it's in public. I do not care for this practice of trashing good people with lies and insinuations. It's destructive to our nation, and it makes Americans avoid politics, which they do in Brooklyn which had what? 12% Democratic turnout this year? Ever ponder why that is? I do.

(45,319 posts)Sanders supporters up in arms over Puerto Rico polling locations
The commonwealth initially had 1,510 polling locations. But on Friday, it announced instead that there would be 455 for the June 5 primary.
Roberto Prats, president of the Democratic Party on the island, said the 455 locations are four times more than the number of polling locations open in the Republican primary in March, according to Elnuevodia.com.
http://thehill.com/blogs/ballot-box/presidential-races/281639-sanders-supporters-up-in-arms-over-puerto-rico-polling
So at the end of May Mr Prats and the Party cut the number of polling places and flouted criticisms of that action from the Sanders team.
That's a matter of record......
