(46,436 posts)That poll worker should be ashamed of herself. She obviously doesn't understand the law, and then for her to mock the interviewer, "Are you a lawyer?" Unconscionable.

(46,436 posts)I'm not doubting you, just saying that it's much, much different here where if you even have a bumper sticker on your car, you can't park close to the door.
And you have to admit that those "sample ballots" are rather deceptive.

(31,170 posts)but I'd have to look closer to be sure of that. With her name at the top. I'd have to look at the actual ballot to compare it to though. Some state ballots make it hella hard to figure out who is the delegate for each candidate.
The video description box at youtube shows the relevant law showing the distance from the polling room.
Editing to say Josh Shapiro, one of the names on the paper, is running for Attny General, so the paper is likely a list of candidates the group passing out the fliers supports.

Agree with you that it's unconscionable.

(14,255 posts)He (and I) will not vote for Hillary if she is the nominee. period.
And he feels that if he votes down-ticket, he will also vote for Trump, because he feels Congress won't let Trump get away with the crazy stuff, and Hillary is just downright wrong on everything he cares about.

(14,255 posts)I am not "advocating" for Trump - I am trying to point out that Hillary is sowing a lot of cheating and lies and discord and attacks - in addition to her stances for war and fracking and the TPP, etc. - and what she reaps just may be pretty bad, and not what she is hoping for. Looks to me like Hillary is willing to destroy the Democratic party with her ambition.

(17,064 posts)Laws don't apply to them, and they get their jollies demeaning and bullying those they consider beneath them. Pretty much the opposite of democracy....it's the beginning of fascism. The silver lining is that the GOP is too stupid to recognize one of their own, and will quickly begin impeachment. First time they'll be actually doing something useful.

Handing out sample ballots or providing a stack of "self-serve" sample ballots is electioneering. The unit judge needs to be alerted of the violation so that he/she can be made aware of the violation and take appropriate action.
I think the fellow recording the video was more interested in the drama of engaging with someone who was oblivious to the law, rather than SOLVING the problem by reporting to someone in a position of authority at the polling place.

(13,421 posts)Only a Circuit Judge can overturn their decision with a court order. in my state. Even then it is on specific issues. Short of engaging and filming it for posterity, I'm not sure what more could have been done while in that polling place.
I am amazed at the lack of outrage. If this had been the General, and that was a Trump "ad" being distributed INSIDE a polling place, I'm thinking DU would have been in meltdown with calls to mobilize troops or something. WHY is this ok in a Primary

(42,862 posts)... so that he or she can take care of it. Chief Judges are typically very busy, and can't be everywhere at once, so people should report violations like this. We really don't know what happened prior to the video, or after the video ended. Could this have been a situation created by the person who was taking the video? We don't know. But if it's exactly as it's being presented, then it clear that something needs to be done, but we don't know for a fact that the election judge or the chief judge is willfully allowing it to happen.
