New-look Bernie Sanders goes for the jugular

The Democrats were supposed to be the grown-ups in this campaign cycle. While Trump and Cruz hurled playground invectives at each other, Clinton and Sanders engaged in high-minded policy debates and avoided petty insults.

Well ... that was then. Clinton, increasingly frustrated with the Vermont senator's staying power, put the L word out there in response to Sanders' recent insistence that the former secretary of state is bought and paid for by fossil-fuel interests.

The Sanders campaign made a loud, if pro forma, demand for an apology, but it surely knew the "lying" hit (or something like it) was coming.

Clinton, for her part, is surely annoyed that she hasn't wrapped up the nomination by now. Everybody who knows a thing or two about politics had predicted that the press would be taking a much-needed break from 24/7 election coverage by now before Clinton and Jeb Bush faced off in the fall.

Clinton often seems astonished that so many Democratic voters are, in her view, so naïve. "If we broke up the big banks tomorrow would that end racism?" she said recently. "Would that end sexism? Would that end discrimination against the L.G.B.T. community? Would that make people feel more welcoming to immigrants overnight?"

1. So this brings to question which has more priority...

Fixing the nation's poverty issues, bringing back jobs, all that et cetera, or fixing social issues?

Because honestly, I don't see activists grinding their families to go out and campaign for social issues when all that's on the dinner table is some fuckin air sandwiches.

mass imprisonment, redlining, coups, ignoring the gays until three years ago (once the polls stayed above 51%, that is), fundie ties, willing to go pre-Roe

we're just supposed to be happy with them saying "at least *I* don't think gaying causes hurricanes" and not put any demands on them for action

clearly him put in this category of tapping the jugular, much much longer ago than this article suggests.
