Petition For Bernie Sanders and Jane Sanders To Release Their Joint Tax Returns.

In Comments, some people have linked this article as proof Sanders released his tax returns. However, if you read the article you will see he only released a partial return for 2014 (actually only 3 pages of one 1040):
Sanders voluntarily released the first few pages of his 2014 federal and Vermont tax returns Tuesday at the request of The Washington Post.
As Mark Lippman pointed out in a comment in his diary, the released 3-page document is missing Schedule C and Schedule A:
Of course its a low number. Schedule C would show us how he turned a high number into a low number to pay less tax.
Same goes for Schedule A. He deducted over 25% of his income, probably the max available for him that year. Which loopholes did he use?

(1,947 posts)But I am betting if Bernie supporters banded together and demanded seeing them in order to ensure our vote, she would move. She plays by a crafty set of rules and so can we. Do you want us to write to her demanding access for even a chance at our vote? I think it's the best way.

(12,754 posts)You know that if they made her look good, she would have released them months ago. You really have to wonder what she's hiding. Typical Clinton stonewalling.

(53,032 posts)You aren't suggesting Bernie Sanders be expected to abide by the standards other presidential candidates commonly adhere to, as though he were a mere mortal?

(53,032 posts)Clinton's tax returns are already public and have been for a long time now.

(1,947 posts)It will add to the aura of her desperation. It will also call on sanders supporters to pull the trump card out.. which is simple.. release the transcripts or we stay home. Think we can't do it with technology these days?

(53,032 posts)You don't think Bernie should have to release his tax returns, when that is standard for all candidates and failure to do so may well have cost Romney the presidency. Yet in the next breath you go an insist that Clinton should release speeches made in her capacity as a private citizen. Clearly you don't give even half a shit about transparency or you would want Bernie to release his tax returns, as candidates are ALWAYS expected to do. It's astounding how you can't even mage to present a pretense of concern about principle.
Clinton isn't desperate. She's winning. She can lose every single primary between now and the convention and still win the nomination because Bernie already trails HUGELY in both the popular vote and the earned delegate count. Of course she won't lose all those primaries, but you clearly haven't figured out just how far behind Sanders is.
No one gives a shit about her speeches. I've posted some of them on this site and none of you bother watching them because the fact is you don't care. The only thing you want is a contentless talking point. You've already mined the billion dollars worth of Op research the GOP has provided and now you're desperate for new material. Sanders obviously can't win on his own merits or through hugely outspending Clinton in ad buys, both by him, and super pacs and dark money groups seeking to make him the nominee. Hundreds of millions of dollars later, and he still trails badly. No wonder you're making threats. You've got nothing else.
You clearly think that your privilege makes your vote more important than anyone else's. You have one vote, same as me, same as any random African American voters in S Carolina or elsewhere that Sanders and his surrogates like to insult. What you do with your one vote is your choice. For those whose values reflect Trump or Cruz, they will help put them in office. For those who want to see America progress into the future--who care about issues they claim to have supported during the primary-- they will vote for the Democrat. Hillary Clinton doesn't determine your character or values. That is a reflection of who you are.
I will do what I do in every election: focus on turning out Democratic voters. That's all I can do. I do not share the view that the votes of a self-entitled few are more important than the majority. You are one voter, and what you do with your vote is entirely your choice. If you happen to have a lot of friends that share your desire to punish American citizens for failing to vote as you demand, there is nothing I can do about any of that either. I can only work with those who want to see a better America.

(1,947 posts)I said making a big deal of them will backfire. I am sure they will be out there.

(21,210 posts)and this comment with a picture.
"Hillary & Bill Clinton reported at least $7.7 million for at least 39 speeches to big banks, including Goldman Sachs and UBS..."
I'll take the speeches for a thousand
Surely Sanders has millions in an offshore account.
