Bernie Sanders CHALLENGES Hillary To A DEBATE in NY As He Sits Down w The Daily News Editorial BoardHillary is AFRAID To Debate Bernie.....so much for "GETTING THINGS DONE!!....
![]() Brooklyn-born Bernie Sanders threw down the gauntlet yet again Friday, challenging Hillary Clinton to a debate before the New York primary — on his opponent’s adopted home turf. “It's hard for me to imagine that somebody who was United State senator for eight years here would not be willing to debate issues of importance to New Yorkers and issues of importance to the United States of America,” Sanders said.
BERNIE SANDERS HOLDS FIRST NEW YORK RALLY IN THE BRONX “We have asked for that debate. My understanding is the Clinton people are kind of dragging their feet. I would love to see a debate.”
Sanders, accompanied by his wife Jane, answered questions on topics from Wall Street to gun control to the Democratic front-runner Clinton during a 45-minute sit-down with the Daily News editorial board. In a time in U.S. history where audacious action is necessary, Sanders said, Clinton was not the right fit for the White House. “I think what she has basically said — not to expect bold change from her,” Sanders said. “She talks about incremental change ... Is she a candidate of the establishment? The answer is, of course she is.”
The Clinton camp said earlier in the week that the senator’s call for a New York debate was a publicity stunt. The New York primary is set for April 19. The 74-year-old Sanders, as he has throughout the hard-fought battle for the party nomination, avoided any personal attacks on Clinton. “I will let the American people make a determination about her trustworthiness,” Sanders said in response to a question. “That is not an area (where) I’m comfortable.”

8. I would.
I've watched footage of her campaign speech this week and she claims Sanders supporters are unwilling to listen to what she has to say. But if she debated him she would have a captive Sanders audience as we want to hear what he has to say, too. She's also agreed to more debates but refuses to give specific dates, all the while her campaign amplifies calls for Sanders to step down. If she won't debate him in New York, then where? In not now, when? Who better to make a case for Clinton than Clinton herself?

You are never going to listen to Hillary. All your side does is distort, take out of context and use innuendo with anything she says.

20. We listen. It's how we are able to use her own words against her.
1990: "As a shareholder and director of our company, I’m always proud of Wal-Mart and what we do and the way we do it better than anybody else.”
1994: "If, for whatever reason, the Congress doesn't pass health care reform, I believe, and I may be to totally off base on this, but I believe that by the year 2000 we will have a single payer system. I don't even think it's a close call politically. I think the momentum for a single payer system will sweep the country... It will be such a huge popular issue... that even if it's not successful the first time, it will eventually be." 1996: "They are often the kinds of kids that are called 'super-predators.' No conscience, no empathy, we can talk about why they ended up that way, but first we have to bring them to heel." 2008: "You should be willing to debate any time, anywhere." 2013: "I am determined to leave the State Department and our country safer, stronger, and more secure." 2015: "I'll look into it." Honestly, I've been listening to Clinton BS for over a quarter century. Really not impressed with what I've heard. Except for those 1994 and 2008 quotes. But we all know how she's changed her stance on them now. |

22. You know there is a whole story behind each of those quotes
It is a poor example of honesty to take things out of context and not tell the whole story

27. Please tell me how "debating any time, any where" was taken out of context.
Or how proud she was of sitting on the board of WalMart, or her belief that universal healthcare was inevitable then but now is just a rainbow and pony show.
Look, I'm not saying she's outright evil, like any of the Republican candidates. But I don't appreciate her hawkishness, I don't like how legalistically calculating she seems, and I really, really hate political dynasties. |

It really is not that hard.... If you are a person of character suitable to be President of the United States.

6. The narrative here is shaping up well for the Sanders campaign
New York is beyond tired of not being relevant, and we'll be very disappointed if the Clinton campaign decides not to debate. Even just deciding late to engage in one isn't going to play well, imo.
Senator Sanders is burnishing his Brooklyn born credentials. |

7. Give her some time
First the need to do some internal posting to see if refusing the debate would hurt her as much as people in NY seeing her bullshit like people in MI did. You know when they gave Sanders a standing ovation for his closing speech and sat for Clinton's closing speech

10. Hillary agreed to a debate in April!
Get your shit together Hillary, unless you're a liar, of course.
First, the DNC limited debates to favor Clinton. Then when Clinton began having poll problems and Bernie surged, she demanded more debates. Bernie said...only if Hillary agreed to additional debates, including one in April, May and June. Now she doesn't want to do a debate because she's back to her initial strategy--hanging on to what she has. Well tough rocks, Hillary. This is why Bernie said he would debate more, but in the condition that you'd have a debate in A,M,J. Will Clinton honor their agreement or will she show the world that her word means jack squat? |
