(135,425 posts)They're able to figure out which Democrats are Clinton supporters, by a secret hand sign, and they are given a ballot and told to go cast their vote.
The ones who don't know the Super Secret Crafty Clinton Code, though ... why, They Shall Not Vote!!

(17,301 posts)RepubliCONS have known about this trick for years. If you suppress ALL the votes, the likely outcome is that the status quo and conservative candidate will win. It takes effort to change, the status quo requires merely swimming with the tide.
MADem
(135,425 posts)It was established so the DEMOCRATS (not the Independents, Greens or Socialists--or those "RepubliCONs" of which you speak) of Arizona could tell their party leadership which candidate THEY preferred.
Here's the "trick" to not being disenfranchised in a DEMOCRATIC Presidential Preference Election in Arizona--you have to Be A Democrat. And you have to BE one for more than a month, to have locked in your party affiliation a month ahead of the election. If you did it late, or not at all, you are excluded.
That's how it works.
No Clinton voters are complaining of disenfranchisement. That's because the overwhelming majority of Clinton voters are .... (surprise) .... Democrats.

(17,301 posts)even Rachel Maddow sounds like a RepubliCON.
But all kidding aside, I hate to tell you but your State runs your elections NOT YOUR DEMOCRATIC PARTY. The open and closed primary decisions are made at the state level NOT necessarily by Democrats. The decisions of how candidates are listed on the ballot are made by the state NOT necessarily Democrats. This year my State RepubliCON Senate decided you can no longer just vote a straight Democratic ticket. You have to go through and press the button for each Democratic or RepubliCON person you vote for. So when names are moved and changed and reloaded on new voter rolls, that's all done by your state NOT YOUR DEMOCRATIC PARTY.
If you Suppress ALL the Votes then the Status Quo usually wins. Thus Hillary voters who are for the status quo are less likely to complain. It's in their best interest to keep quiet.

Unless, of course, Clinton voters are just more dedicated and have more stick-to-it-ive-ness.

(10,156 posts)In mine - California - the parties do decide who gets to vote in the presidential primaries (we went to open primaries for all other offices a few years ago, so come June all voters will be able to vote in the Senate and Congressional primaries, but only registered Republicans can vote in the presidential primary; the Democratic, Libertarian and American Independent parties chose this time to let Non-Partisan voters vote in their presidential primaries). The state runs the mechanics of the election, but in this case the party decides who votes. Other states do things differently.

If you try to figure out what happened keep it to yourself and know you will not be the master of your own destiny. Try not to complain no one wants to listen, remember poor Job was the victim of high stakes gamblers. Shit happens and it is just business as usual. Get over it.

(15,245 posts)Sanders most likely will not win the nomination. Most of his followers will get over it Sanders and Clinton will reconcile. Trump is just too scary.
A major FBI probe mishandling secret files, DOJ indictment could really mess up the Democratic Party even if the allegations are untrue now that is a threat. Like some say I am sick of listening to contrived email controversy but it is still out there and the existence of a private server with Top Secret correspondence is illegal. If that server was really breached watch out. An indictment of a candidate would mess up the Democratic party. At this point I do not care who the Democratic candidate will be as long as they beat Trump and Cruz.
72DejaVu
(1,545 posts)Are intended to create the impression with the general public that Clinton did not win the nomination fairly, and supplement the right wing meme that she is untrustworthy.
It's a scorched earth strategy. If Bernie can't have the nomination, make the nomination not worth having. Maybe Trump will make things so bad that millions of people will join the "revolution".
gordianot
(15,245 posts)Hillary's real problems are with the NSA over any secret correspondence on that server and not Benghazi hearings brought on by right-wing political hacks. The two email controversies are easy to confuse. Add the person who set up the server has immunity the details are now well known.
Also revolutions against Fascist regimes do not have good track records. I rate the equal potential for Trump and or Cruz to go full blown fascist. Hope I am wrong.

The problem is that Hillary rarely actually "means" any of the things she says. It's basically all spin and PR.
I mean, almost every single word out of her mouth during that whole statement was obvious BS:
-It's not "unprecedented in history" for candidates to withdraw (or to be urged to withdraw) for party unity. For example, the Reps urged Huckabee to withdraw for unity just this year.
-Nobody tried to push her out "since Iowa". It only started when she had less than 1% chance of winning without some catastrophe happening to Obama.
-The Obama camp has never suggested that she should drop out.
-She's lying through her teeth when she says "I don't understand" the unity argument -- unless she's completely braindead.
-The Bill Clinton analogy was BS
-The RFK analogy was BS.
100% BS. Did she "mean" any of it? Who knows what is going on in her head.
Maybe she meant it as a double entendre. Her "official" meaning was that RFK was still campaigning. But she was in a particularly bitter mood, so she left the word "assassinated" as a jab."

So what you 'see' is just whatever you want to type as narrative. In 08 you could 'see' that Hillary was bitter and full of BS and wrong about everything, today you can 'see' her honesty and integrity and 'see' what's wrong with Bernie and 'see' the future and I'm just not 'seeing' you as a credible commentator at all, because you argue any branch of any tree you lite on is the finest branch and all the other trees are rotten.
