Obama did not indicate preference for Democratic candidate: White House

WASHINGTON | BY MEGAN CASSELLA

President Barack Obama did not specify a candidate preference in the race for the Democratic presidential nomination at a Democratic National Committee fundraising event, White House spokesman Josh Earnest told reporters on Thursday.

Earnest was asked about a New York Times report that said Obama told Democratic donors to rally behind candidate Hillary Clinton during the fundraiser in Austin, Texas last weekend.

Mr. Obama made the remarks after reporters had left a fund-raising event in Austin, Tex., for the Democratic National Committee. The comments were described by three people in the room for the event, all of whom were granted anonymity to describe a candid moment with the president. The comments were later confirmed by a White House official.

Those fucking secret fundraisers should be illegal. When we get sold down the river to their sponsors we ought to at least get a video of it.

He's chomping at the bit to hit the trail with Hillary to protect his legacy and pay back the obstructionist Republicans. He can't do that until a nominee is decided. Sanders met with the President at the White House many weeks ago. It would be naive to think that they didn't talk turkey on that very point.

But they're probably making posts bashing another Democrat now, so no time for apologies.
