Did he actually say he was a pastor? I thought the Mormon church did not have pastors.

My — my passion probably flows from the fact that I believe in God. And I believe we’re all children of the same God. I believe we have a responsibility to care for one another. I — I served as a missionary for my church. I served as a pastor in my congregation for about 10 years. I’ve sat across the table from people who were out of work and worked with them to try and find new work or to help them through tough times.

Anyone can serve as Bishop...and many do. I have proabably 5 former Bishops in my neighborhood in Utah. Everyone has a job and "Bishop" is one of them. Yes it does have a lot of responsibility but you need absolutely no training to be asked to step up and be one for a while. IT is ONE of the jobs in the church. You can not exchange that term to mean the same thing as mainstream Christians understand it either. He is also a HIGH priest...LOL...and many other things. Most boys are deacons at 11 and priests at 16 and then onto Elder...high priest....etc... NOrmal routine stuff here and not the same terminology as you hear in other faiths. NO...you will never hear the term PASTOR... NO SUCH THING for Mormons. Well...today perhaps! ha ha...but not yesterday. Very common to serve as Bishop or in the Bishopric. It would have been more of a direct translation to refer to himsef as the neighborhood captain for 10 years since most "wards" TAKE UP A FEW CITY blocks. lol... THERE....now you see my point.....PERFECT>> plase take note..... NEIGHBORHOOD CAPTAIN (Mormon Bishop)....elevated to PASTOR of his church!!!
