I have seen some comments on DU that Romney yard signs are few and far between compared to McCain signs last election.
So, what are YOU seeing in your neighborhood/town?

(2,391 posts)I see maybe 1 for every 5 McCain signs in '08. And I'm being generous.

(1,089 posts)More Romney signs, less Allen signs, less Romney bumper stickers (many less gop bumperstickers)... maybe they were giving the yard signs away?

(5,008 posts)I live in Williamsburg and I'm not noticing many Obama signs or bumper stickers like I did last year. Just wondering how other areas in VA seem...
I did not know Eric Cantor represented Richmond. I thought it was perhaps further north. Ugh..Wish he would lose his seat. Tea party would go crazy! LOL

(1,089 posts)Technically, I'm in Henrico County - Cantor has a gerrymandered district tailor made for him. I'm in western Henrico - my brother lives in Eastern Henrico and has Bobby Scott as his rep...

(14,564 posts)I live in a pretty "conservative" area, and if there was a candidate they even were OK with, that with their pure hatred of this president there would be a BOATLOAD of Romney signs. There are more popping up now, but as of two weeks ago, there half "DEFEAT OBAMA" signs to Romney signs.
They don't talk about him AT ALL.
Just snarky to hateful comments about the President.
nevergiveup
(4,760 posts)around here and hundreds of Obama signs here. This year I have seen 3 Romney yard signs and zero Obama yard signs. The same goes for other county and state signs. There are few and far between political signs this year in this far western suburban Illinois district.

(22,380 posts)That is in general.
In ritzy neighborhoods - nothing.
In just affluent neighborhoods - R/R
In moderate neighborhoods - Obama
In poor neighborhoods/white - mixed
In poor neighborhoods/black - lots of Obama
NO Bumperstickers for R/R - OK - I have to be honest. I have seen

Most of my neighborhood is solid repub. so, yeah, I see alot of repub. signs.

(219 posts)I'm in the suburbs of St Louis, and I've seen hardly ANY signs or bumper stickers for EITHER candidate. It's so weird...as someone else said, you wouldn't think there was an imminent election.
Why do you suppose that is? Lack of interest? Fear of reprisals?

(2,477 posts)people are getting tired of all the ads, campaigning, talking points from both sides. I live in Fenton and I do see alot of Rmoney signs, not alot of Obama signs. I do work in St. Louis and when out on patrol, I see more Obama signs than Rmoney signs.

(64 posts)I live in a so-called affluent area in south FL. I have seen no Obama signs here but a few Romney signs but closer to the city, I have seen a few Obama signs. However, when I travel thoughout south to central Fl I have counted a handful of Romney bumper stickers and I have lost count on the number of Obama stickers that I have seen, even in my neighborhood. Therefore, I think that people are just not purchasing the Obama signs but have received the bumper stickers as I have, through donation or freely. From what I have seen through my bumper sticker poll while travelling I am really hopeful that FL is going blue again this election. I have heard the same observation from folks in other parts of the state as well. I have never seen it this lopsided.

Or so I have heard.

(2,825 posts)The teabaggers, unfortunately, have now been energized and went into action.
I'm thinking that Democrats simply don't want to get into hassles with neighboring teabaggers. They know they are crazy, and don't have the appetite for a "sign war".

(18 posts)A lot less in the Southern Florida area.

(17,651 posts)not many yard signs at all in my neck o' the woods.
When Ryan made a stump speech on Sante Fe Dr., 2 minutes off Fort Bragg there were about 5 or so Romney signs planted at the entrance but they're long gone.
Going into Fayetteville on the main drags i.e. Skibo Rd, Morgontan Rd., McPherson Church Rd, Raeford Rd. intersections, I haven't noticed any and when I do, more down ticket candidates. One of my favorites from '08 was a Ron Pauler who owned 2 properties on the main road in North Fayetteville and had these HUGE humongous RP signs, those properties were up for sale earlier this year now they're sporting "For Rent" signs, no RP signs this year.
Haven't ventured into many neighborhoods though.
I've been seeing some signs of hard core Tea Party extremists i.e. Don't Tread on Me's, 2nd Amendment and the occasional Romney/Ryan bumper stickers but not alot. A few O stickers too.
I have noticed that the TP Taliban crew are manic in their driving and it's usually some fat hog of a truck or SUV sporting the stickers and shoe polish window writing. Wouldn't want to breathe the same air as they do and am sure to stay out of their way on the road - something seriously haywire in those nutjobs.
Pretty quiet STILL for the most part, very odd and uncanny. Absolutely NOTHING like McCain/Palin days when every one was proud to show their support that madness!

(12,504 posts)I've seen a few, very few bumper stickers for Romney and fewer Obama bumper stickers....but very rare yard signs. In the case of Utah, I think the few signs are because of the complacancy that Romney has it in the bag here. It has dampened enthusiasm to really make their voices be heard...both pro and anti Romney

(5,693 posts)Our area is a little more conservative than other MA parts. Hardly any Obama signs at all. A good number of Romney and Brown, and a few Elizabeth Warren ones. Plus, my congressman Tierney is in some reelection trouble because of his wife's scandal. Finally, State Senate seat is open, so there is republican competition for it this year.

(47,675 posts)Curiously, there aren't many illegals either. I've got my Obama signs out in MY yard.

(74 posts)I am in a suburban area of eastern PA and there are far fewer signs period. Last election they were everywhere with an even party split. Now, I would say there are a third as many republican signs compared to 08. But I hardly see any Obama signs at all. I think I see more people with Ron Paul signs still out than anything.
I believe the polls that show a high number of undecideds in PA. A lot of people seem unable to relate to either candidate and complain about both choices. The sign shortage seems to back this up.

(32,083 posts)I have yet to see a Romney sign, not counting the half dozen I saw before the primaries, that are now long gone. I have seen one Obama sign. I suspect I would see even more of those if I drove around the north side of town, where the African Americans tend to be more concentrated.
I can count on one hand the number of Romney bumper stickers I have seen. Every last one of them has been on an expensive gas-guzzler that was parked in a handicapped spot, meaning the owner is likely a wealthy retiree. They are likely the same people who write the fact-free, histrionic LTEs that pop up in the local newspaper once or twice a week. Even the LTE numbers are down. The vast majority of them are anti-Obama, rather than pro-Romney.

This year I put out a sign for a Democratic local candidate. Ran into a neighbor at a wine tasting (I was working! LOL), who said is your house the one with the Reed sign? Well yes and she said how brave I am and congratulations!! Well not so brave but mad, I've kept my mouth shut for far too many years and frankly now I don't care what my neighbors think.
Yes fewer republican signs of any kind here this year.

(320 posts)I'm in CO and I'm seeing Romney signs EVERYWHERE. Huge ones with solar panels so they stay lit up at night near main roads /highways. Tons in yards. Just a quick count on the route I drive most days I come up to well over 30.
I've seen 2 Obama signs.
Sigh.

Romney is not very well liked, even by republicans.

(19,458 posts)Hardly any Romney stickers, a few yard signs on the second homes of the Central Valley folks who come to Pismo to annoy the fuck out of the locals.
Cars? Handful of Romneys, and the "best" was on the truck of a guy who had a giant homemade sign on his truck "If Obama Wins, America will DIE!" Srsly.
Best moment??? I was driving through the reddest of red areas of California, near Redding, on the 5. And all the ranches had these obnoxious anti-Obama signs. And it's really desolate. This man pulls up next to me, and he's obviously one of the rancher/farmers, in a big pick up truck. And he smiles and waves at me. Okay.. I'm a girl.. seems plausible.
Then a few minutes later he comes back up to my right again, and is waving at me and pointing at my car. And I think "oh shit, my tire is flat, i left the gas cap off again." But he just waves and drives off into the distance. At the next gas station, I stop and realize my car is fine. He is pointing at my OBAMA sticker and smiling and waving and giving me a thumbs up. It was hilarious. It was like he was so excited to see it, and to let me know that HE also supports him in an area that is soooo hardcore right wing. Funny.
BTW, the majority of Obama stickers I saw on my trips, were on the cars of people in their 60s and 70s. Why do the pollsters think that older folks don't like him??? they have most of the stickers.
dixiegrrrrl
(60,010 posts)before last election, I put an Obama sticker on my car. It has the words " Get Over It", the O in "Over"
is the Obama red, white blue circle. No other words indicating Obama.
A huge good ole boy, somewhere in his 60's, stopped me in the store parking lot, said he wanted a sticker like mine, for his wife, cause it was "purty".
I had to tell him it had come as a gift.
Then he climbs into his tank size pickup, drives away, leaving me with a full view of his McCain/Palin bumper sticker.
And it hit me...he had NO clue what my sticker was about.
It is still on the car.

(8,064 posts)obama sign numbers about the same, but there are no romney bumper stickers
or yard signs here. 4 years ago there were DEFINITELY mccain signs and

(4,286 posts)In 2008 I saw several signs with Palin's name only too. Needless to say I haven't seen a single with only Ryan's. The Republican's are not excited about RMoney. They are purely motivated by hatred of Obama.

(743 posts)Like a million times less and a million times more Obama and Obama/Biden signs everywhere!! It is like I died and went to all blue N.C. heaven! It has been great.
In 2008 you couldn't walk out your front door without tripping over a damn McCain/Palin sign. It was terrible back then.

I was hoping to see something as scary as RR sign, but none.
Only some signs of local town candidates.
No politics around here because I live in a red district.

(176 posts)I live in Chester County, Pa and cannot believe how many I see. However, they are either on vacant land very close to the road and in most instances when on the front lawns of homes, they are placed extremely close to the road. Which brings me to the question of what is the distance from the road that is not private property. I do believe that the Repugs would use any sneaky means to distract voters. This is not just my observation! Others have commented on this. The irony is that most of the people I know are strong Obama supporters.

(9,265 posts)But nowhere near as many as McCain signs in 2008. More for local races than Romney. I've seen exactly 1 R/R bumper sticker here.
Good sign, 4 years ago a neighbors yard was filled with McCain signs. Nothing at all there yet (same people in house).
Native
(5,942 posts)less Repub signs for sure, and other than my yard sign, I've only seen one other Obama sign IN THE ENTIRE TOWN (at least the parts I frequent). Our house has been egged, but our sign is still in our yard. I can't go to the gym without overhearing talk about our Muslim president, and I've gotten in a couple of verbal arguments there as well. I tend to avoid saying anything, but when someone starts spouting pure hate, that's when I chime in. Funny, they never have an argument for any of the facts I present, but they keep spewing the hate talk regardless. I'm a woman and the arguments I've been getting in are with older men. Some of their comments have been so disgusting that they've actually felt bad enough afterward to come and apologize to me in the gym prior to leaving. One guy was even cornered by several others and told to calm down. That's how much hate I live with in my town. Not surprising though considering we have politically powerful men living here who are part of neo-Nazi type groups, and there was some serious talk after Obama was first elected about plans to take him down. Never a dull moment!

(864 posts)Here in true blue Oregon there are almost no Romney signs. There are a small number of Obama signs too. Maybe because there was no Democratic primary this year and Obama hasn't been in Oregon very much. I have the largest Obama sign in Eugene but was turned into the zoning office for putting up my sign more than 60 days before the election. I put it up 12 days too earlier and was reported. I believe it was the crazy Rightwinger up the block who has her car plastered with Art Robinson for Congress big signs. Art Robinson is the lunatic tea bagger running for Congress against our hero Pete Defazio. There are LOTS of Defazio yard signs around, maybe 10 to 1 against Robinson.
BYW - Defazio has a new TV ad up saying that Robinson and the national republicans want to get rid of Medicare and Social Security. Pete looks at the camera and says, "That's plain nuts". I want Obama to make that kind of ad.
