2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumAndrew Sullivan: Did Obama just throw the entire election?
When we were headed into the first Debate, I was worried that a bad performance from the greatest speaker of our generation would hurt us badly. When the debate was over, I sat stunned, and spoke about it several times, that Obama looked indecisive, off his game, and had given us a horrid performance.
Many of you told me that it didn't matter. I was worried about nothing, and that the people would see the lies. I disagreed, and now Andrew Sullivan is out with a post yesterday. No, Andrew Sullivan doesn't want Romney as President any more than you, or I do. But before we can fix it, we have to admit honestly what is broken. We here have been talking up President Obama for months, and years. We pushed for him to be President four years ago. I was insulted when I got the email the other day where the President said "I can't do this alone." We can do a lot Mr. President, we can. But the one thing we can't do is go out there and help you in the Debates. That, you must do alone. If you can't explain your vision for the Second term we all want you to have then, we're all screwed.
The President should have been serious about this months ago. There is barely enough time to get serious now. Or as Andrew Sullivan also writes do you want out?

(14,881 posts)Possibly I just saw it in late-breaking news because I don't see it on the front page here, but just saw it on the 1st page somewhere.... I'm losing track of where I am this morning.
Nerves are on edge. Since you are a low-count poster and new member, you're a little at risk as being mistaken for a rw troll looking to demoralize.
People will settle down a bit as the Romney bounce diminishes, which is happening already. The Pew poll freaked everybody out, but it was skewed time-wise (front end loaded to just after the debate, so it doesn't reflect Friday's jobs and deficit numbers or the drop on Sunday.

(5,942 posts)debate. His performance was horrible. There were multiple opportunities to take Romney down and he sat there like a deaf, dumb mute. It was incredibly embarrassing after standing up for him for so long.
Mr. President, WE CAN NOT DO IT ALONE, you have to stand up for us and fight for our values. We are tired of carrying you on our backs.
I watched when he let the criminals on Wall Street walk free after destroying our economy, I watched as he did nothing when oil was spilling into the Gulf of Mexico, I watched as he adopted a Republican healthcare plan and then let them turn it into "communism" and a "government takeover of healthcare", and I watched as he let Mitt Romney walk all over him in the last debate.
Obama needs to Grow a spine and stand up for the liberals who put him in office!!!! Or he will find himself standing alone outside of the White House!

(28 posts)When I saw the President on 60 minutes 2 weeks ago, in comparison to Romney, I said, on a post here, that he had to step up his game in the debates or he is in big trouble. I said this because there was something in the way he presented on 60 minutes that was very tentative and weak. Well, he did not step up his game and look what has happened. Will he? I, like Sullivan and many others, am wondering. He is 0 for 2 so far.
