Bernie: Raise Minimum Wage to $15/hr, Introduced Pro-Union Legislation, Opposed TPP

etc.........

Bernie has always marched with union workers!

NEW YORK (Reuters) - California nurse Katy Roemer remembers how at the height of the Ebola crisis last year, U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders marched arm-in-arm with union workers as they fought for hazmat suits and other protections to treat patients with infectious diseases.

Roemer's comments crystallize a risk Clinton faces as she courts organized labor—a potential enthusiasm gap..... many rank-and-file union members remain drawn to Sanders.

In the race for union endorsements, Clinton has more than a dozen from national unions, representing more than 10 million members. By contrast, Sanders has notched two national endorsements, for about 385,000 members.
But in many cases, there have been divisions within unions. Dozens of interviews with rank-and-file members show Sanders generating more passionate support based on his years of walking picket lines, attending social gatherings and intervening in labor disputes.

Sanders still only has formal backing from a handful of national unions – but increasingly it does not matter.

In a stark illustration of his argument that revolutionary political change can only come from below, a growing number of local union chapters are choosing to ignore their national leadership and back Sanders on the ground instead....

Throughout his career and presidential campaign, Sanders has made labor issues a primary focus.

In July Sanders introduced a bill that would raise the federal minimum wage to $15 an hour and he is opposed to the sharing economy.

It was his opposition to the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP), however, that allowed him to gain the most ground against Hillary.

From rallies to extensive media campaigns, unions have helped make TPP an important campaign issue. Hillary, though, has been reluctant to take a firm stance against the deal. (now she did a flip flop as we all know.....temporary, according to Chamber of Commerce)
