In New York Times editorial, first female secretary of state says her remarks at a
Hillary Clinton campaign event came at the wrong time

The first female secretary of state, Madeleine Albright, has said she did not mean to tell a large number of women to go to hell at a Hillary Clinton campaign event last week.
At the New Hampshire event, Albright deployed a rhetorical flourish she has used thousands of times before, saying: Theres a special place in hell for women who dont help each other.
Albrights comment was seen, however, as a condemnation of women who do not support Clintons run for the Democratic nomination. In New Hampshire, Clinton was soundly beaten by Senator Bernie Sanders.
I absolutely believe what I said, that women should help one another, but this was the wrong context and the wrong time to use that line, Albright wrote in a New York Times editorial published on Friday.

(27,814 posts)... tell a large number of women "to go to hell"?
And yes, I am familiar with the quote about "a special place in hell for women who don't help other women", which she's been using for decades.
That's a far cry from "telling women to go to hell".
Sorry for pointing out the obvious, but this kind of mis-quoting (especially of Democrats) here bears a striking resemblance to the tactics employed by FOX-News.

(14,177 posts)I think that I am helping a lot of women by supporting policies that will help them so I am sure I am safe from the wrath of Madam Albright's wrathful and vengeful god. That being said it is a terrible thing to say when a whole lot of young women are not supporting someone you support. It's just terrible. I don't see eye to eye with any of my children politically, but I would never ever say that there is a special place in hell for them.
