2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumWhat I learned on the Rachel Maddow show last night....
I learned Ron Paul's strategy to take away a win in the caucus states! Rachel explains things so that even a dummy like me can understand it!!
If you missed the show last night here is a link to the "Paul: all your delegates are belong to me" segment. It is worth the watch!

Discuss please. What do you think? Did you know this before Rachel explained it? How do you think those Little Ricky caucus people are going to like this?

(3,922 posts)Rachel is one of the few credible journalists left in this country.
Her work is exceptional. I caught two episodes this week, including last night, and both left me wanting more.
Even Paul's campaign manager was impressed!

(36,221 posts)Sucks though that votes don't mean what they are suppose to.
But then again delegates in both parties can pretty much do what they want.

(2,090 posts)It's certainly interesting and definitely increases the odds of a deadlocked convention. I'm not sure if we should be rooting for that or not. Will the candidates continue to flail at each other until the convention or will they declare a truce and attack Obama? Will the convention be the craziest since Chicago 1968 or will the Republicans manage to unite behind a new candidate (presumably the reanimated corpse of Ronald Reagan)? Will it even matter?

(53,475 posts)... having Paul's "senior campaign advisor" verify it was incredible. He was gloating about how they're disenfranchising voters.
The process of picking candidates has always been murky. This sheds a little light on it.
Is Paul the only one who figured out you just need a small number of dedicated people to hang around a caucus later than others to become the delegates? His zombie horde will stay forever if that's what it takes, and I can't see even one of them throwing their vote to anyone other than the "one true one".

(30,058 posts)Of the 464 bills introduced only 1 has passed. Of course many was laughable but I would not expect to see him get many things in his agenda accomplished. Hope he would at least select a good vp. I am sure late night would love to have him. Can hear the jokes now.

(31 posts)There are people I decidedly despise. They lack morals, character, and honesty. They disparage and ridicule our progressive heroes and role models. In case you can't tell, I'm talking about Rep. Ron Paul here. This is someone who utilizes a narrow and static view of human nature.
I want to talk about the big picture: Paul surely believes that there should be publicly financed centers of quislingism. Unfortunately for him, that's all in his imagination. Rep. Paul needs to get out of that fictional world and get back to reality, where people can see that I oppose his complaints because they are appalling. I oppose them because they are tendentious. And I oppose them because they will reopen wounds that seem scarcely healed sometime soon.
And just look at his supporters! They are creepy, religious zombies. How can you be devoted to such a dangerous, ignorant man who does not acknowledge equality or civil rights?

(9,854 posts)who worships him. She REALLY thinks he stands a chance to get the nomination and to win the GE. She earnestly explained on FB that Paul was the only Republican candidate that had enough appeal to DEMOCRATS that he could win the GE. I politely told her that I thought she might be overestimating Paul's appeal to Democrats.
