(12,977 posts)They want to have tax-exempt status and support political candidates at the same time, and they're pulling this stunt on purpose in hopes of inciting a court case that could overturn current federal laws.
I don't understand how they hope to pull it off -- since what they seem to be after is an opinion saying that as long as you call yourself a church you don't have to pay taxes, no matter what. But given the current Supreme Court, I guess anything is possible.

(42,152 posts)Piss of the federal government. When lawyers/judges rule against their tax exempt status, Christians all over will be all over the judge.

There needs to be more push back on them by the Government or it will come to fruition.
Religious Fundamentalism is becoming a big problem in America and needs to be put in check soon or else.

(22,000 posts)against churches and non-profits that broke the law. Make them defend themselves. Suddenly they'll be up to their eyeballs in legal fees.
